Yes, you heard right this time! Van Halen Reunion 2007 - With Dave !!!

*** No need to flame this thread if you're NOT a Van Halen fan ***

If there are Van Halen fans on this board you may want to read what I found out!
Yes I'm a reliable source and work in the music business and if there are skeptics just remember the date I posted this and then view the news clippings in time! This is primarily for the diehard Van Halen fan that's waited over 20 years for this news! I’m sure some will quickly say it’s a cash-grab but let me just say that the reunion of Van Hagar in 2004 was a major cash-grab in terms of hitting the road without a new full length cd. Van Halen that will tour in 2007 will likely have a new full length release unlike 2004 so there is a difference. I’ll explain this as you continue to read this breaking news.

"First off I want to say, what a fucking party Eddie can throw! That being said, I talked to Ed shortly after he ripped through some classic VH material at his Porn party and I asked him if he is still going to be working with Dave soon. He said "I will be working with Dave."

Now as far as the party goes, this was not the same Eddie that we saw on the last tour with Sammy. This is a happy and content Eddie. The Eddie who was always smiling and trying to make everybody happy. I am glad he is back.

The rumor of the reunion in 2007 is already posted on a music site like melodicrock.com but let me tell you what else I know and back track for a moment:

- Here is the latest on the rumored Van Halen reunion with Roth.

Several months ago there was contact between the camps. First Dave called Alex before his firing from his radio gig and they talked about possibly working together as Van Halen again. Alex told Dave that he wasn't sure exactly what Ed wanted to do right now and that he (Ed) was working on a few little things on his own.

After Dave was let go, Alex and Eddie called Dave to shoot the shit and see what was going on. Alex and Eddie were upset about Mike's involvement with Sammy on the summer tour and that they didn't really want Mike a part of the project if they did go ahead with it with Dave. Dave told them that he would do it without Mike but would prefer that he was involved. That being said, I would not rule out Mike being involved either.

Dave told the brothers that he was going to do some shows as well during the summer and wouldn't be freed up until the later part of fall. This was fine with Eddie due to his things he had going on, (which we have since found out was the adult film work).

About a month ago the sides met face to face and had a sit down (no Mike). Eddie told Dave that his son Wolfgang was ripping on some serious bass now and he wanted to use him during the sessions later when they finally go into the studio. Dave was cool to that but he has some serious concerns over vocal arrangements, but they will cross those paths when they come it seems. Maybe do some songs without much of a chorus or bring in a female background vocalist on some songs.

They want to do a full length album, something that WB is pushing very hard for. They also though want to hit the road next summer and know that it would take some quick work to get an album done first. Eddie really does have a lot of material and a lot of it is not raw. So maybe that could happen fast.

It was left that they would stay in touch over the next several weeks and that Eddie and Alex would continue what they are doing in the studio and during tour breaks Dave would come in and they would collaborate on some lyrics and see what they have.

Things are looking real good for all those long suffering Van Halen fans who have been waiting for over twenty years for this news.

So to clarify all I know and when the news will likely be confirmed, let's just say Things will become clear before you head over the river and through the woods to grandma's house for Thanksgiving turkey on November 23! I have also heard from a friend, not confirmed yet, that Eddie was approached by Sly Stallone to do a song for the upcoming Rocky Balboa Soundtrack, maybe it will involve Dave.

I have a couple calls out to see if this was true or not.

So again from what I know on the reunion with Dave front, here is what I can say right now:

Things are looking real good as of now. From what I have heard its pretty much a done deal and the official announcement could come in short time. It looks like it could start as early as March, which would make me think that Mike will be involved since Wolfgang would still be in school. And like I said I still have yet to receive any word regarding Mike though.

Its gonna be big, damn big. Something rock and roll hasn't seen in a long, long time!"

I am a fan of Van Halen but the band's seen better days. Dave's not the same the guy he used to be and eddie and alex are very controlling individuals and your comment about michael just goes to show the ego that eddie and alex have.

However, I digress, it would be interesting to see if they can make this work.
You're right, Dave's not the same guy he used to be he's grown up and having seen Dave perform in these parts this year he sounds better than ever! This tour will blow eveyone away!

The reason Eddie and Alex are pissed at Michael Anthony is because Michael is the only person who didn't give his condolences to Ed and Al when their mother passed away recently.

Egos are part of rock and roll, these guys are larger than life because of this boost.
I hated Hagar's contribution to the band and ignored Van Halen because of him. Dave's the only frontman, I hope this tour and album delivers the goods.

I too am connected to the music industry...been shooting their pictures for 20 years... I've been the authorized photographer more times than I can count .

I find it odd that someone with 5 posts would suddenly appear and have so much insider info.

Van Halen is a mish mash. A lot of water under the bridge.

You're right Ed's had an axe to grind with Mike for years. Mike brings nothing to the table - he doesn't contribute in any way, yet he makes a lot of money. Add into the mix the lack of a phone from nice guy Mike following the passing of Ed and Al's mother and you've got one upset Ed.

I can see Ed's point - why should the bass player get rich off his work?

However, if the band intends to keep any shred of credibility with the constant back-and-forths with singers, it would probably be wise for them to realize that Mike is an integral part of the band.

I think I was fairly clear about the credility factor being already shot.

You're right.

If VH tours with Dave, Robocock will have to line us up with tickets to prove his position in the business :D

You've been Van Halen's authorized photograhper? Then you must be Neil Zlozower since nobody but Neil has covered every genre of VH! ;)
You can question my credibility all you like, just remember the date this was posted and when the news is confirmed you'll know just where you heard it first!

I love Van Halen but unfortunately I've only had the chance to see Van Hagger twice.

I doubt DLR can hit those high notes in some of the older tunes. Watching some of the old bootlegs it's questionable he could do it back then (live not in the studio).

As for Eddie he was never the same in term of his guitar work after DLR left. He wasn't as creative.

Would I pay money to see them? Doubtful.

VH hasn't been the same since Jump came out. IMO, everything before was great, everything since, umm not so much...

Yeah 1984 was the beginning of the end but Panama and Drop Dead Legs are great tunes.

I'm a fan of Dirty Movies, Mean Street, Unchained, Dance the Night Away, EVerybody Wants Some.

Fair Warning is a great album. Same with VH II

Great choice of tunes there and van hagar had never measured up to the timeless classics.

Frank, you'll be pleasantly surprised how well Dave is singing these days. ;)

Speaking of a band that can still rock out...... I went to see Iron Maiden at the ACC a few weeks ago and they rocked!!!!!!! The crowd was really into it too. They played a lot of new stuff so I was a bit disappointed to not get some of the classics like Number of the Beast, Ace's High, Wasted Years etc. But Bruce had tons of energy, could hit the high notes, and had great command over the crowd.

A fun show. Gives hope that some of the other older bands can still pull it off. However, I think Bruce has taken care of himself over the years. While the members of VH partied hard over the years.

Another guy that can still belt it out is Billy Idol. Glad he reteamed with Steve STevens...... Scream is a great single.

That's b/c Iron Maiden has always been a professional band and knows to put the musical performance first.

Actually, they played every single song (in order!) off the new album. Which I thought was kind of a bummer, although at least the new album is one of their best in years.

That being said, I'll be glad to see IM again when they go on tour in 2007. Then they'll be playing the classics off 4 consecutive albums, starting with Powerslave. Can't wait.

Last summer I saw IM at the Amphitheatre and they played nothing but tunes from the First 4 albums. But that meant no Ace's High or Wasted YEars or the Evil that MEn Do..... some of my fav maiden songs.

The new stuff was actually very good although the songs went on just a touch too long. There were often suitable points to end them a minute early.

BTW ran into a guy from Yellowknife who came all this way to see them at the Skydome.... spent over $1K just to get here...... now that's a fan!!!!!! But he overheard me lamenting about the classics that were skipped over and felt the same way. I didn't feel so bad knowing what he went through.

I don't recall saying I was the authorized shooter for Van Halen. Only that having done tours for some 20 years I find it very odd that someone would come on here out of the blue and announce insider info. In LA maybe...but not Toronto. This would be about the last place inside tour info would be released. I know the mangement quite well and have placed a call to verify.

Is that right Neil? So I suppose saying "been shooting their pictures for 20 years" and then following that up with "I've been the authorized photographer more times than I can count" is just taking words out of context, right. So "the" photograher is now "a" photographer of tours considering this is a thread about VAN HALEN not tours of other artists? Seems like your changing your tune now on what you wrote and maybe the band isn't aware of your photos taken over the past 20 years, hmmmmmm.

And then you write something down ridiculous like "insider info" when sites like melodicrock among others on the net are reporting the same thing. And just so you know Neil, this is the internet and anyone in LA can read anything someone in Toronto has access to. So why would you find it odd Neil that someone would post Van Halen related news to fans in Toronto? Yes, there are in fact Van Halen fans everywhere Neil. Yeah they call it insider info. A reliable source is a lot different then stating it as "insider info" and if you can prove I wrote that, be my guest! On the other hand Neil, you're the "authorized" photographer that should also know that Van Halen is not managed by anyone right now! So how is it that you know management so well? Sammy's manager was managing the band and no Neil, Sammy isn't involved in this reunion.

And if you noticed there are actually Van Halen fans in this thread and music fans in general not off the wall shit disturbers like yourself. It's a rock and roll band for gods sake Neil, take it easy with the blood pressure level already.

You also skipped the all important note directed to people like yourself : *** No need to flame this thread if you're NOT a Van Halen fan ***

By the way, Dave has a manager!

way out in left field
Before this turns into a spat by robo and markII I'd like to add that while the music would benefit from the reunion (afterall, VH was ONLY VH with DLR singing) I don't know about their stage show. Hell, they're all old timers now and I doubt DLR could do anymore flying roundhouse kicks off the drum riser....and anyone remember that picture of Eddy that was posted here a while back? He looked 2 steps away from the grave....
