You're more likely to die from a bathtub slip and fall. Sensationalism is turning you into a little scared man.
Oh I'm not too worried about it in my lifetime. We have a nice big ocean and a neighbour who agrees with what we are doing right now.

Europe however has to worry about the whole land thing.

Like I said. It isn't about them being Muslim as much as its about them being young single men, under or not unemployed, different cultural standards when it comes to misogyny, homophobia, and many other ideals.

Then with a lot of time on their hands, no real hope of improving their lives and a language barrier.....well that is about the easiest recipe for civil unrest, higher crime, and the locals turning against them creating a ghettoisd environment I can think of.

What makes you think they have no prospects?

Would you be willing to take in every refugee family with two parents, a young child, and evidence that they were gainfully employed in Syria prior to the war forcing them from their homes?

Note, a quarter of Syria's population has been forced from their homes. Even in Muslim communities with extremists, the extremists tend to be a minority. The overwhelming majority of these people just wanted to get on with life.
Sure and I have some beautiful swamp land to sell you in southern Florida.

Right, so here is my proposal: we set up a forward operating base near the Syrian border with Turkey, and offer asylum to every intact family with two parents and a child under ten who can show evidence that they had been gainfully employed in Syria before the war.

Then we divert every available Canadian Forces, Air Canada, and West Jet aircraft capable of flying that far and mount a massive air convoy to get them all the hell out of there before another three year old drowns.

The deal we offer is a new humanitarian visa that requires the refugee to locate to a part of Canada of our choosing where they will be enrolled in English classes and put to work on infrastructure projects, or other tasks befitting their skills.
LOL! How naive. The refugees from ME, be that Syrians, Afghanis, Eritreans, etc. will end up in Toronto or another large Canadian city. That is where the jobs and social services are located. As is their diaspora. As always, in the case of immigration, the citizens of our metropolitan areas will pay the freight. It is supremely naive to think that immigrants can be resettled outside the metro areas because we want them to. The Charter will never allow it, that's just silly. As silly as to suggest there are infrastructure projects that will employ forcibly settled refugees. First of all, those projects are short term, already have CANADIAN citizens in line for these jobs(pay starts at about $35/H) and require skilled labor. You can get the government-meaning us-run make work projects for them, but that's just a disaster waiting to happen because everybody knows that the civil service can't build for shit and it can budget even worse.

I don't want to come off as heartless, but given the tactics ISIS is using, I don't want to be letting refugees into my country or any allied countries right now. ...
Sort of the point. It is BECAUSE of the tactics ISIS is using that many of these people are refugees.

I am voting Conservative on election day. Want no Fuck in refs.

Honestly, it won't matter for this issue. It's going to happen. There is something behind the scenes we will never be privy to.
They're all coming here, they're not flocking to Saudi, Jordan, Iran, etc. I would assume geographically, they're a lot closer than Germany (to say the least).

It also makes me think if they're being told "go to Europe, you'll be taken care of" by paid Saudis, EU people on the ground, etc.
Culturally as many have pointed out in this and other thread, they have more in common, why the fuck would they want to come to "the West"?
A good portion of them bad mouth us? So I was told by my work acquaintance who is from Dubai. They don't want them going there, they have no money, nothing to offer.
On a sidenote, the Saudis are dirty ass, koran thumping, money hungry, hypocritical pricks.

Maybe someone can help me out here, and satisfy my curiosity. Why are these refugees heading for Europe, and not Egypt or Saudi Arabia or Qatar or the U.A.E. or Yemen or Oman? No language barrier and much more similar culture in middle eastern states vs. Europen countries. Is this a Sunni/Shia thing?
Because they know that the treatment they will get as refugees or even the simple lack of respect for human rights (for those who aren't billionaires). And many of the Arab states aren't signatories of the UN Convention on Refugees.

I can guarantee you that if forced to flee Canada you would consider which option is the best.

Really?
The 7%+ unemployment rate suggests otherwise.
It also includes that there are Canadians with a sense of entitlement that prevents them from taking jobs they see as beneath them. We currently have to import seasonal and temporary workers because of it.

I've been watching the videos and still pictures of the migrants fleeing to Europe. I must admit I am very impressed. Following perilous journeys in crammed, leaky unsafe boats, followed by days of walking dusty trails and running through dense bush, sleeping outside under the stars the clothes of these migrants are cleaner, better pressed, newer looking than most of the clothes I wear on a daily basis. In addition none of them are carrying luggage to effect a change of clothes, no one is carrying food supplies and none look under feed. Is it just me or does anyone else smell a rat? Is the Canadian media selling Canadians a load of BS to effect their political hidden agenda? Are Trudeau & Mulcair treating ordinary Canadians as if they are complete morons? It certainly seems so to me. And just what is Trudeau's and Mulcair's hidden agenda in selling Canadians this load of crap? Why are the two of them so anxious to open the floodgates on unlimited immigration of people that probably aren't real refugees. Has anyone noticed that the refugee camps apparently are not emptying despite this overwhelming flood of humanity headed to Europe and North America. Anyone ever wonder where these "refugees" are coming from? CANADIANS DESERVE REAL ANSWERS BEFORE THE ELECTION!

Of course that's the catch 22. In some ways it would be easier for people to assimilate in an areas where they are forced to interact with other Canadians while in other ways, the support services needed to help them integrate are not economical unless there is large population density.

But no matter how much immigrant communities cluster during their first contact in Canada, they spread out when they get their feet under them and their kids are pretty likely to be pretty 'Canadian'.

Any immigration should be based on the CANADIAN needs. Period. I have no doubt that the second generationof any group will become fully Canadian. It is unhealthy and unwise to bring immigrants only from a single region, single socio-economic group, single religion. The immigrants from South America, Europe, Far East, Africa should get as much consideration and should not be bumped from their place in line. Most of them are just as desperate as the Middle Eastern ones. We can use refugees from all countries to boost our demographic needs, but the priority must be given to immigrants who can contribute in THIS generation. Canadian taxpayers, who are footing the bill, deserve this much, at the very least,

Is this the new conspiracy theory; ISIS sending people to take over the west?

Of course that seems to contradict with your previous post.
Not really. I'm talking about 10000 who are families with children. Properly interviewed and vetted. Then more than likely they aren't anything considered dangerous. But what i'm seeing on a regular basis on news coverage is large groups of young males. I've reiterated how I feel about that type of refugee.

And yes IS has actually made claims to be sending there people in. Whether it is a propaganda ploy or not the threat must be taken seriously.

As supporters of the taking of mass amounts keep claiming it's only a small minority that are radicalized. But how many does it take to commit attacks which lead to further distrust and marginalization?

This isn't a black and white issue. Care needs to be taken in decisions like this as to what is best for Canada first.

A quick look at stats can sites show that Canada took in 260,000 immigrants in 2014 with with the Philippines, China, India, and Iran representing almost half. Integrating 40,000 Syrians in a year would still be comparable with integrating 40,000 Filipinos and we already do that. Canada welcomed 100,000 Vietnamese 'Boat People'. 120,000 European refugees were accepted by Canada immediately after WWII when our population was a third of what it is now. Another 40,000 from Hungary in the 50's, 11,000 fleeing the break-up of Yugoslavia, 13,000 fleeing Pinochet, ...Canada has a long history of trying to help people with little other choice (and a history of refusing to help groups).

Of course the issue here isn't immigration but rather refugees which is a humanitarian decision, not an economic one.

I have no doubt we can absorb an extra 40k. But. Comparing 120k after WWII to our time is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. The number may had been greater, but the overall cost to the society a lot lower. I know that first hand having members of my family immigrate here from the DP camps and the allied military. Aside from a free trip on the merchant ships and a free rail tickets from Halifax, they received no other government support forcing them, and very quickly, to become self sufficient. Would the today's refugees from the ME spring for that kind of a deal? The answer is no because we can see their targets are countries with the most generous safety nets. I do have a problem with that. The Syrian conflict will not be solved in Berlin or Stockholm or Ottawa. We simply cannot absorb 3-4 million refugees. It's clear that Arabs don't give a shit about human life, so the only way this can end will be by West's intervention. Otherwise, since they suck at war, the conflict will drag for another 4 years and will only end when they run out of bodies.

Most of them speak English. Syrians tend to not he extremist Muslims. Most immigrant geoups are homophobic, go ask a Jamaican what he thinks about gays. The Syrian guys have darker skinned ppl here and in the UK that will always be more oppressed than they are.
