My guestion is based on a preference and maybe, Why you prefer one from the other!

As for me,??? I inherited 8 pets at home and this is not including the two rats???
So I'm little overwelmed and confussed.

I myself prefer the cats, thier cleaner and smarter JMO

Taking into consideration the fact that cats as pets
outnumber dogs because they are low-maintenance
I have the feeling people generally would prefer to
adopt a dog if circumstances permit.

I used to like cats until I got a dog. I ended up with the cutest dog ever and she's pretty much changed my opinions on dogs all together after I took her to a few obedience training sessions.
I've owned rats before, they are pretty cool. They pee everywhere though and I really can't get over those oversized testicals.

I am addicted to the Burmese breed of cats who are known for their dog like qualites of affection and loyalty. They are like Velcro cats. I also inherited a Yorkshire Terrier from my neighbour who succumbed to cancer 6 years ago and love him equally. So I love both cats and dogs. The cats are not high maintenance like the dog, but I have someone to take care of the dog. I have found if I have a Persian client coming over, I have to hide the dog or they will leave- they have something against dogs. I have also had the occasional client who could not stay because of an allergy to cats. About 2 in 8 years.

Cats, they're not as stupid as you think. Once I was on call and left my pager downstairs when we went to bed. The cat was at our bedroom door raising a racket. The wife said to let him in(usually not allowed in bedroom at night) he wouldn't come in when I opened the door but was trying to get me to follow him downstairs. I did and found the pager buzzing.
Also, I will never pick up poop from a dog, I want to gag every time I see someone picking up poop with a plastic bag on their hand. Yuck.

Years ago, I knew this guy, had a dog that whenever the guy had to pay someone money, the dog would pretend to bite the recipient!

If you die, at home alone with your cat, your cat will eat you.

Horses first, but I haven't own one since I had to put my baby down a few years ago. Since then I only rode once, it was an extremely painful experience
She broke her two front legs...I couldn't pay for the vet bills and that she may walk again

I prefer cats over dogs. You can leave for two or three days and not overly worried about them.

I love both dogs & cats, but my lifestyle isn't suited for a dog.

Too many long days, unpredicatable work hours and frequent travel.

I know I can get dog walkers, dog sitters, but it doesn't seem fair.

Plus I have two cats that are very dog like - very affectionate, very active and intelligent. I never leave them by themselves for our a day, but if I'm stuck at work I don't have to worry that they are pining to go outside.
