Psycho - hey I was 10 when I saw it on TV. My friend told me there was a shower scene.

Oh yeah, forgot about The Shining, REDRUM REDRUM!!!!!!

I find the new "horror" genre is just schlock slive and dice now. Even the saw series is just innovative ways to mutilate someone.

I think the scene that creeped me out the most was in Saw 2 (I think) where one of the "victims" had to crawl through a tub of used syringes....*shudder*

If you want something a bit more "entertaining" and less "horror" watch Cloverfield, which I really enjoyed this year. Not many jumps or shocks, but a quality bit of film-making.
I liked Cloverfield also...did anyone else notice in the video tape when something splashes into the water behind the couple filming themselves on the way to Coney Island?

I enjoyed the 28 days later and the sequel, 28 weeks later but more for the suspense aspect, not the "horror".

As for 28 days later, did you prefer the "happy" or the "sad" ending?

the ghost stories are the best ....not slasher movies....the Haunting of Hill House was a great movie.....as a kid, 11 or 12..i saw a Vincent Price movie called the Tingler...it scared the hell out of me..but when i ckecked it out as an adult, it turned into a comedy lol

I think the scariest scenes are those where the character is cosy indoors, dark outside, and they hear a noise at the window, and they draw back the curtain, and there's a snarling bear or wolf staring in.

For weeks after seeing one of those (I can't remember the names), you hardly dare to go to the window at night. You imagine drawing back the curtain, and there's something right outside, close against the window, looking back at you! Even seeing a smiling human face, like that, would give you a heart attack.

A version of that theme is those absolutely stupid Burger King ads where that pervert in the mask stares at people thru their window.

LOL yeah, there was something on the net about how "bizarre" that character is. I read that they did this on purpose (make him eerie looking).....

That's what was scary about The Grudge.

In a normal haunted house flick, you leave the house, you're safe. Not the case with Kyra Sedgewick (who looked hot in that movie, she seemed to have aged a lot after that) in The Grudge.

What's so scary about that? I found it too and watched it. I enjoyed it.
From the first scene to the last one it was the most painful movie I ever had to sit through in order to get laid, except maybe for 'The Notebook".
