I've just started sampling Whey Protein Powder to my milk, to deal with muscle soreness after strenuous work outs.

I find it does help with muscle soreness the next day, is just me?

Can you guys provide any comments and recommendations?

Thanks.

My ex used to drink that stuff like 3 times a day! He said it helped him gain weight, but the only difference that I noticed was in the amount of gas he let out :p

Funnny ...lots of the powders are made with Whey and yes they can give you gas.
No Cobu it dosen't help me with soreness, but I find it a convenient way to get extra protein in quickly.
This stuff is pushed like crazy in fitness magazines.

You need to take a recovery drink...not whey protein...
When you workout you are actually causing micro tears in your muscle fiber walls...so you need something to help in the repair of them....ask any supplement store jockey...they should give you some good ideas of post workout drinks....

BTW..that soreness should be short lived...if it persists...you're doing something wrong.....

Personally I prefer the casein stuff over whey, but it is personal choice to a large degree.

Try this after your next workout, in a shaker add one scoop quality whey protein isolate, 1 tea spoon glutamine, 2 teaspoons of greens plus, a ripe banana, 2 tablespoons low fat or no fat vanilla Greek yogurt and top with cold bottled water. Use a stick blender and blend the living daylights out of it. You want everything broken down and disolved for max absorbtion. Stay away from adding milk...unless you're planning a dutch oven surprise...lol!

Just stick with no carb diet, all protein veggies and fruits. Lots of meat and eggs, and lift. Also cocaine, the more the better.

Thanks for the tip, and thanks to everybody else as well.

I have always drank milk and always done the homemade fruit shakes, but it didn't feel enough.

I tried the Whey Isolate brand that a friend offered, and I do notice a significant difference in hunger and muscle stamina through out the day (post work out day). She mentioned there were essential amino acid stuff that's suppose to be good for you on top?

For the last couple of days, I started with a cup of milk/whey and fruit blend on top of my breakfast, and I was strong all the way to lunch.

The afternoon is more of a challenge.

I have been monitor my digestion, and yes, I do notice gas which is abnormal for me and also my waste appears to be "too rich". I may have to back off a touch and blend in more carbohydrates to my diet.

Glutamine, BCAAs and your choice of protein be it whey, casein, myosin or egg protein.

Go easy on the proteins though ass some guys overdo it.

On some forums, guys are having at least 2 shakes and a couple eggs and chicken breasts per day.

Sure your muscles won't catabolyse but as GB said, the excess protein puts a strain on livers which deaminate and kidneys which excrete.

All the muscles in the world would be of little use to you with a failure of these two important organs.

Hydrate well and eat apples to build muscle stamina and the conditioning will come.
