Who here has the most free time on their hands?

This question is for those who earn a full-time salary (say, $40,000 or more) and yet have many hours of free time to do whatever they wish (sleep hours excluded of course).

I work full-time, and clock in at 10 free hours per workday. Ok, SPs may perhaps beat me in this regard, but who else has a lot of free time on their hands and how many hours of free time do you claim per workday?

That's how I have 10 hours of free time per workday. I teach 4 hours per day, and only need a miniscule amount of time to do other teaching duties. On average, its about 4.5 work hours per day, with a full-time salary of 80K. I was wondering if anyone else had a full-paying job, that gives them more free time than me (other than SPs).

For me it comes in waves, depending on my projects at work. Sometimes I put in nearly 80 hours a week of actual work. Other weeks I "work" an 8 hour day half of which is spent surfing. I think I average 40 but it's definatley not 40 every week. In terms of free time that gives me an average 8 hours a weekday plus weekends, depending how much I sleep.

Depends how you count. If I am fucking around doing nothing but at work is that free time?

I gotta bring this up in the next ETF/OSSTF CBA negotiations!

a BIG issue in the last round or two has been prep time...my ass! :D
I know of teachers who give themselves even more free time than me! In particular the senior teachers (currently earning 85K). They reuse their old tests and notes and mark during class time while their students are busy working on assigned work. One teacher I know of writes songs during class, and then reads newspapers during his spare periods, and also uses up his 20 available sick days every year.

In an 8 hour shift I would HAVE to work about 3 hours if the machine is running steady and error-free (various roll changes, liquid top-ups, relieve operator sort of things). On those day's I'm way over-paid.

On the days where the above doesn't apply, especially if the machine is being balky I work the full 8 hours and I'm underpaid.

Fortunately the good days usually outnumber the bad days.

In the hybrid administrative/financial-type capacity I work in, it feels as if the few hours outside of work [definitely nowhere near ten!!!] are needed to recharge/veg. At 32, I'm somewhere in the boat Robio mentioned, I'm worn out at the end of the day nonetheless and have been able to handle it less and less the past couple of months esp. with sleep problems. I make near the middle of the 40-100k range and there are never times where I'm twiddling my thumbs. Currently contemplating whether to slave away for a little bit more and save money, or change things and make less money but probably have the opportunity to "live more." Ideally like the Fisherman in the Investment Banker and Fisherman tale. I just don't want to regret the choice a few years from now--anyone look back on this kind of decision?

Ok, I'm going to give my details here (for workdays):

2:30 am to 7:30 am - sleep.
8:00 am leave for work.
3:30 pm return home from work.
3:30 pm - 2:30 am = 10 hours of FREE TIME (not including 1 hour for eating and self-grooming). No kids or wife to take care of.
Plus, I sometimes get up to 2 hours of free time (literally can go anywhere) during my work hours.

Does anybody beat me in the freedom department here? Or am I in the upper crust?
