This can often work in the oposite way... a person who is always over dressed even in the most casual of situations just comes off as an insecure person whos clearly trying to hide or make up for something

I like wearing earings. I like buying bracelets and accessorizing... and shoes! I like pretty lingerie. i like the variety of clothing I can choose from. I like that I can cry and not feel that I'm not representing my gender appropriately. I like that on any given day - I can walk into a women's washroom and strike up a conversation with another woman - a total stranger that is so intimate - people might blush if they overheard us.... I like that she will side with me if I am venting about someone... I like that I can wear pretty clothes and play with my makeup... change my hair.... cause a guy's jaw to drop with a coy look. I like that I'm just as smart as any man I know and that will be recognized if recognition is required in my workplace or relationship. I like cooking and cleaning and acting with compassion. I like pink and swirls and doodelling my name. I like taking care of a man when i choose to. I like having my pussy licked (yum ) and getting it from behind (oh my!) and being able to have orgasm after orgasm (hehe)... and I like wearing whatever the fack I want whenever the fack I want....
I understood the women to feel sorry for men because the women clearly thought of themselves as having an advantage over men - which clearly seems to be the case in Toronto until a woman hits 50 or so
I think we have an advantage because we can be emotionally vulnerable and open more than the average straight man. We have more opportunity to be honest with who we are and what we feel. We have support systems available to us that men do not.
I really don't believe it's always about dollars and cents.... but on sex industry boards, this tends to be a common theme. If a woman is happy with herself and her sexuality - financial advantage doesn't really play a key role in her happiness.
And gawd-damn... do you know how easy it is to drop a couple of hundred dollar bills at Shopper's Drugmart buying makeup to look pretty for you boys???? Geesh
a decent car for a man is supposed to be a 5 series BMW or an E class or its equivalent
a decent car for a woman might be even a 3 series or a Mini or a Lexus IS or ES, all of which is about $500 a month cheaper

and do you really think that your emotional happiness BS is an answer to the question about obvious inequality between men and women stemming from a physiological fact that women have a commodity for which men are willing to pay on a weekly if not daily basis?
it should be noted that assuming that a guy either spends about 2K a month on SPs or wants to spend at least that amount, then it is easy to quantify his emotional and sexual UNhappiness if he is not in a position to do so
really, women here only realise how much it sucks to be a man when they hit 50 - unless they are able to profitably divorce at that point and get a number of dogs and cats, in which case they will never realise how good their life was comparing to a male counterpart

I don't believe GTA women dress poorly at all. Sure you have the mom jeans and larger ladies who don't give a damn, but for the most part I think local girls are very stylish.
It's the dudes in this town that dress like shit. I work downtown and I can't believe how many ill-fitting suits I see on a daily basis. And then you have the guys who think it's cool to wear their Darcy Tucker leafs jersey year-round...

I thought it's only guys who wear suits with labels on sleeves (yeah, those 100% WOOL MADE IN ITALY ones), but recently i added to my collection a girl who wore a double-wented blazer with the wents still sewn together.

I'd hate to be a woman. Wow. Being born a man means you won the lottery. Women are under way more pressure than us. They are held to a ridiculously high standard for appearance - if a woman has any one of 1000 perceived flaws, assholes like us (and 90% of other men and 99% of women) write them off as being ugly. Very very very few women are considered good looking and even those ones obsess over their own perceived flaws. Its neverending for them, the challenge to be attractive. And even then, they age and the game is up no matter what. We simply arent' judged to the same standard as a woman. And to make it worse, when a woman is good looking, everyone assumes she's dumb or a slut or someone's toy. An attractive smart woman has to work all that much harder to achieve what an ugly guy can have just by being smart (all other things being equal).
For us its easy. No matter what we look like, we're good looking!! Being a guy rocks. All we have to do is have a half-decent job. Even if a guy is blue-collar and rides the bus, he can land a decent woman - look around!! Lots of hot lower class wives. The only advantage to us of being financially successful is nicer stuff, better holidays, broader and more enjoyable work opportunities, access to a wider selection of women, and unencumbered funds to rent younger/prettier women when yours gets too old or boring.
I'd take being a guy over being a woman any day.
omg are you serious? "Decent"??? lol. I used to drive a Benz - what does that make me? Even better.. now - living downtown... the TTC is the only way for me - and I'm happier for it. I would have no qualms about being with a guy without a 5 series BMW... or a car period for that matter.
Superficiality makes me sick. I won't love you more just because you drive a nice car... sorry if it breaks your heart, (and the hearts of the high-end car dealers who rely on your misguided notion that a nice car will get you girls' attention....)

There's probably a million reasons as to why NA women are less fashionable...
1. We generally have a faster paced lifestyle - meaning we all have less time to take care of ourselves physically and fashion wise.
2. NA women have more responsibility - sort of goes with number 1... but women here really are expected to be equal bread winners, while in many other countries men still are the sole providers.
3. Sexual harassment/professionalism - again, really ties in with the first 2... because so many of them are in the work place and want to be taken 'seriously' they try to draw little/no attention to their dress so that their work gets just as much attention as anyone elses. It also reduces the number of rumours that go around when she does get that raise/promotion. Much of it goes with the point of the whole thread, they don't want to just be looked at, they want to be respected.
4. NA men are much more assholeish - while other countries don't mind women with a few extra pounds, around here they get poked fun at. As well, NA are generally bigger due to our diet/lifestyle. Who wants to show off curves that will be unappreciated/ridiculed.
5. Style - this is NA style. Honestly when people from other countries bring their style to our streets, its poked fun at. i.e. lady gaga

I agree that Montreal girls dress more sexy/stylish than Toronto girls. Everyone I've ever mentioned this too has agreed (male and female) this is so. I was shopping for a gift at Holts on Bloor St and the salesgirl said that half the stuff Holts brings in to Canada only goes to Montreal - they don't bother even offering it in Toronto as the women here won't buy it. Why this is the case is debatable. I will say though that taken nude Toronto and Montreal girls are about the same, so it isn't that Montreal girls are more attractive, just that they show off a fashion sense of being feminine/sexually appealing in dress more than most Toronto girls, om average. With all generalizations there are exceptions - some Montreal girls are slobs and some Toronto girls dress very well, but on average Montreal girls dress better.
As for Miami girls, I agree that single guys find it easier to cold call for dates in south Florida. I have no idea why that is, but if you dress well and are well groomed and flirt you will get inviting responses from Miami girls more readily than the same routine will produce in Toronto. Girls down here are more open to meeting new people. I'm not saying finding love is easier, but getting a date certainly is easier. I think Americans in general are more outgoing, social and curious in regards to meeting new people. Toronto girls seem more cautious and reserved - again I have no idea why, and it is a generalization only. Even bank tellers in south Florida flirt with me and would be receptive to a date request when I'm not even trying. Here I've never had a bank teller come on to me. The upside of this is Toronto men are used to effort, and so we have a natural advantage when going to other cities where not as much effort is required to get a date. If you can make it here, you can make in anywhere when it comes to getting dates. Another dating thing is that Americans subconsciously pursue the American Dream of marriage, kids and a house more than Torontonians do. If you are single in Florida you feel you are missing out on part of the dream and perhaps this is one reason Floridian girls are more keen to be open to new dating partners. A look at the birth rate stats between Canada and the U.S. bears this thought out as the birth rate is higher there.
As for U of T girls, yes, many dress in yoga clothes to go to classes. The pearl and sweater set is a bit of a thing of the past. If the girl is a knock out though, she can be a knock out in anything. I visualize girls nude when I pass them, so whether they are in yoga clothes or a sundress isn't raining on my parade lol. They are lots of hot looking girls in Toronto physically speaking. They aren't all in track pants...walking along Bloor St I've seen some stylish hot girls. The chic style of Montreal not so much, but some here are prettily dressed even if not chic.

Women don't have as much sex power as you think. Most guys will say that a good looking woman can walk into a club and go home with whatever guy she wants within 5 minutes, but how many times do you actually see that happen? Rarely, considering society will view her as a slut (including her friends) unless she's somehow getting something out of it other then sex. Women have to lie about how many guys they've slept with.
Women can work now. They don't need you to pay the bills. Just stop paying everything for them. The more guys that start doing this, the better.
