I used to love Timmies....But since the Brazilians took over, the quality of EVERYTHING has plunged. The coffee tastes like ass (much prefer McDonald's or Starbucks), and the food is shit. They continue to do good business because people have been brainwashed to think it's a national institution. It really is a shame though.

I drive all the way to krispy kreme if I crave for donuts...my SO brews coffee way better than Starbucks or Tims...and i get the occasional BJ on a good day...i get free Tims at the office so idc about what's what...

McDonald's coffee is pretty good but you have to wait in line (always busy like Tim's). Also, unsure about hours, delivery speed and service. Starbucks, never had to wait ... Yet. Even busy hours. Better bathroom. Also you get to check out Rich Milfs that feed their dogs $8 drinks.

That said, I do love the Starbucks uni-sex private bathrooms, generally 2 in each location, and by far the best bathrooms available when you're on the road and nature calls!

I love Tim's - the dark roast, the timbits, the donuts - everything about it - and the hockey cards. Been doing the cards with my nephew for 5 years now and he loves it (he is grade 6) - good memories with his uncle I guess. Anyways - love the dark roast and love the vibe.

Timmie's only when I have to, dark roast. McDonald's coffee I find surprisingly good but wished it was a bit more robust. Starbucks is ok but overpriced for what it is. Best coffee ever - beats all of them - is what I make at home at a fraction of the cost.

When on the road I try to avoid the startbuck which is present in just about every hotel! I usually use Yelp to find the closest local coffee shop.

I usually brew my own, there are days when I can't get home - I go to Country Style, their coffee and smoothies are excellent. They opened a Tim's across the street from it, have yet to drive it out of business.

To answer the question and to make it very simple

probably for the same reason why some look for $120/hr sp's, $200/hour sp's, and $500/hour sp's. I think you can figure out the reasons quite easily.

Some always prefer and enjoy the least expensive ones more or at least equally. And some can only enjoy the most expensive available and are convinced that the value is there.

The coffee bean starts out green… and as it gets roasted, it the oils where the caffeine is get cooked out. You can go for a light roast which will have a milder flavour but tons of caffeine… to a dark roast (French roast) which will have a more charred or burnt flavour, and much less caffeine. An after 8 coffee if you will.


Star Bucks coffee is a dark roast.

Tim Hortons has bastardized Southern On with a medium roast. Their cream is 18% and sweetened. And they advertise DD. They are basically selling you sugar.

Different coffees have different jobs. Espresso beans are a dark roast. And nothing beats an aromatic light roast on Sunday morning.

Speaking of bathrooms while "on the road", some of the newer Esso gas stations have separate "his & her" private bathrooms. I have to admit that if the men's bathroom is occupied I will usually go "trans" for a minute or two, and use the female bathroom...
