No you don't, Oct 14 2025 is just Windows 10's end of life cycle which means at that point MS will stop doing update rollouts beyond absolutely Major security vulnerabilities."Windows 10 users you have until Oct 14 2025 to upgrade to Windows 11"
If you wait beyond October 14, 2025, do you lose Windows 11 as a freebie?
How much electricity does it use? Thinking of getting a mini PC with Win11 that rises less electricity.i9-12900K CPU
ASUS ROG Strix Z690-F motherboard
32GB of RAM
Corsair 7000D case
1TB of Samsung M.2 memory + 1TB my old SSD
It's my first liquid cooled machine too.
Stuck with my old 1080Ti GPU for now because I didn't want to buy a new one with the market being so tight. With the collapse of crypto, they're becoming more affordable again, so might spring for a 3080Ti.
The free upgrade Will probably add before the termination date. Based on past experience. win 7 Is still supported but no longer free upgrade"Windows 10 users you have until Oct 14 2025 to upgrade to Windows 11"

Windows 7 was fine. Just when you thought it was safe Gates brings in Windows 10 and then Windows 11. What a racket.I just bought a new computer and it came with windows 11 and I absolutely hate it already!!
For starters the taskbar is tiny.
And when I want to open multiple browser windows side by side on the taskbar it wont allow it
Which version of Linux are you using? What familiarity did you have Lennox out of 10Before using it? And how easy was it to use?I have W10 but hardly ever use it now since Linux is my main OS. Haven't really looked into how they let you free upgrade to W11. Best to just 'Google it' or go to the M$ site for directions.
Yes it is possible to have W7 and W10 on the same PC. You just partition your drive or add another drive.
My desktop PC currently has 3 SSDs in it and runs 5 OSs right now with no problems. Namely W10 and 4 Linux OSs. They all run fine with no issues.
Prior to that I had 5 OSs running, W7, W10 and 3 Linux OSs on my PC. All 5 OSs ran fine until the one old mechanical HDD died which had W7 and an older Linux OS installed.
Replaced that dead HDD with a new SSD and never bothered with W7 anymore since it is considered obsolete now, along with the older Linux OS that was on it. I just installed the latest new Linux OS on that new SSD and currently all 5 OSs run fine with no issues.
Started out with Fedora back in 2007 that I got from a library book with a Fedora install disk. Liked the way it ran. Tried a few free Linux versions since. Right now settled with one of the Ubuntu flavors, there are several. IMO these free Linux versions are very logically laid out and about as easy to pick up/master as a Mac which I can also run but refuse to pay double or triple for. Linux is very secure. In all that time never had any virus, malware, hijacks, bugs etc. Overall Linux has more programs and apps than M$ and Apple combined and all FREE. It's nice being M$ and Mac free.Which version of Linux are you using? What familiarity did you have Lennox out of 10Before using it? And how easy was it to use?
My guess is that your new computer has higher resolution i.e. 4K screen even if it has the same linear dimensions as your last one. So it will cause everything to look tiny. You can the size of text and other things in the Settings app.I just bought a new computer and it came with windows 11 and I absolutely hate it already!!

I think Gates left Microsoft in 2014-15. Of course Microsoft is a racket because it's a business. Do you think they can survive if they keep the old products kicking around?Windows 7 was fine. Just when you thought it was safe Gates brings in Windows 10 and then Windows 11. What a racket.
Thanks. Tried it before then . not happy but sounds better nowStarted out with Fedora back in 2007 that I got from a library book with a Fedora install disk. Liked the way it ran. Windows 10 updates rendered my perfectly fine wireless printers inoperable in the Windows environment. Fuck Microsoft and Windows.Windows 10 users you have until Oct 14 2025 to upgrade to Windows 11 but Microsoft has pretty steep hardware requirements, 8th generation intel CPUs or higher. They may consider 7th generation intel CPUs. Some Windows 10 users with older computers will have to buy new systems or upgrade their computers, some even may even switch over to Linux OS.
Hey Woodrow, what do you think of Zorin version?I've always preferred doing a clean fresh install of any OS both windows and Linux. Doing an upgrade from W10 to W11 you run the chance of bringing corrupt files etc., from W10 into your newly upgraded W11 OS messing it up and causing problems.
With W7 you were able download W10 for free by putting a W10 ISO on a flashdrive for W10, then doing a clean install of W10 on whatever drive you desired. This also allowed to keep your old W7 OS as it was. Wish M$ still allowed that to be done with W11.
Thanks, but I already downgraded my OS back Windows 10.My guess is that your new computer has higher resolution i.e. 4K screen even if it has the same linear dimensions as your last one. So it will cause everything to look tiny. You can the size of text and other things in the Settings app.

As for have multiple windows open, you can click the title bar of one window and drag it to the left or right side. Then you can pick which window you want to see on the other side
I think the execs at Microsoft have to make it look like they're busy, so they change around the interface every 10 years to justify their paycheques, even though the changes are completely unneccessaryI agree that Microsoft changing how Windows looks on every version is irritating
Yeah, that works too. No need to freak out over them ending support for Windows 10. So long as you keep your anti-virus up to date and don't go to any questionable sites, you should be fine. Thanks, but I already downgraded my OS back Windows 10.
I have a feeling W11 will go the way of Vista and they'll move on to Windows 12
