Wireless Routers

I had to buy a wireless router on friday night, I took it home and put in the installation cd which no windows popped up to ask if I wanted to install the router. So I used a quick setup guide that came with it, I have my pc downstairs and my moms laptop upstairs I would really like to know how would I go about hooking my moms laptop up to the wireless router, the router will be staying downstairs.

you have to go into the router's ip 192.168 ..... depending on your router. Then go to the wireless section and name your router and create your password and encryption value. If you have wireless cards in both mach they will pick up the network you created while inside of the router. From there you just have to enter the correct password and encryption and you should be ok
