Worst Sport casters on TV?

I know this thread is 14 yrs. old, but I have to add my 4 cents worth (inflation). Ron McLean is the most arrogant a*****e on Sports TV. Tells stories as if he was there or that he did all the research. Some prod. asst. did all the work and McLean gets all the credit.

Danny Gallivan and Brent Musberger bad broadcasters? Those two are legends. We can also put Jim Van Horne and Graham Leggett in that category.

I'll never forget Musberger's call when an all out brawl broke out between the Steelers and the Oakland Raiders. "There's a discussion on the field".

The broadcaster I can't stand is Doug McLean, he has Richard Peddie level arrogance. If he's such an expert on hockey why isn't he a GM? Now you have this bizarro situation where Caroline Cameron has to save his skin. Caroline isn't really a hockey expert but the show sorely needs her charisma. Parring her with Colby Armstrong is a much better fit. It's a good deal for lovely Ms. Cameron, Sportsnet wants to expand their tennis coverage, she'll be free for live coverage.

I can barley watch any TSN highlight shows because it's all females now. I find females in general just aren't good at sports casting.

Friedman and Kypreos are so full of themselves.

Conversely, I like Burke's insight now that the reigns are off. TSN still has the best insiders (McKenzie, LeBrun)

That guy on FAN590 that sets up every segment with unfunny quips. He basically has 20% of the airtime with his arcane introductions and irritating stage voice. Who is this guy ? I try to listen to
other sports radio options because of him....

Dick Vitale single handedly ruined basketball for me. His schtick may have been fresh thirty years ago, but now I cringe at the sound of his voice.
Stephen A. Smith of ESPN is an arrogant blowhard who thinks that if YELLS at the top of his voice, he is more credible. He’s not.
Ken “Hawk” Harrelson, Chicago White Sox play byplay guy has finally, andthankfully, retired. I expect home team announcers to have a certain degree of homerism, but this guy went way, way above and beyond . Just annoying.

I don't know about that. I like Caroline Szwed. Maybe it's because she, like Cassie Campbell, are ex-jocks, who understand the workings of the sport on the field.

Nice of the Leafs to have Bob Cole call his final game in Toronto. At one time he was a pretty good game caller, but his game calling skills went down a few years back. Last night he was brutal. No flow, at times he was rambling on about nothing. Too bad. Not the kind of note his career should go out on, but such is life.

Last night was not his final game. It was his last game in Toronto. He'll call games until end of the year.

While agree with you that his game calling is gone (last night it took me 3 or 4 minutes to figure out it was him it was that bad), I felt they pulled the plug on him to early a few years back.

I'll never forget him calling the leafs 92/93 play offs with Harry Neale.

This just isn't true. He's got lots of sports knowledge. Probably more than you and I've never heard him once talk about his wife being black so I'm not sure where your going with that...
