Au Contraire mon ami.

This Rob Ford thing is brilliant. We have laughed, we have scowled, we have judged, we have pontificated, the media has had a veritable field day with this one.

Name me a similar instance in which a TV show character has given so much with 60 seconds of material? (Let alone a woman a few years away from collecting her CPP wearing oversized glasses and a red vinyl outfit.)

I can't think of a single one.

Those out there who say, "I've never heard of Mary Walsh", or "I never watch this show" - besides coming off as a little dull and boring - you've just proved how brilliant 22 minutes is as you can't stop talking about it.
Quoted for truth.

I agree and disagree. The CBC has some skin in this as without the bitches bit they come off looking even more pathetic than usual with yet another unfunny Walsh skit. When was the last time 22 Minutes made anyone laugh anyway?
I laughed! We need to hear the original tape. If Ford said basically the same thing but they got the word "bitches" wrong then it's no different.

Also no matter how you slice it the guy called 911 three times to complain that he had been set on by a grandmother.....

Not quite Fuji...He called them twice....the second time after getting NO RESPONSE.

The third conversation was WHEN THE POLICE CALLED HIM about the 911!!!

And understandably he was livid!!

Why? Because the police didn't send squad cars screaming over to his house to save him from being the butt of a CBC comedy sketch?

All of this is ridiculous. Those who defend Ford are either insane or haven't seen the clip.

Maybe he didn't know it was the CBC specifically, but it was clearly a television show of some sort... (camera & sound crew following the "reporter")

Maybe he didn't know it was Mary Walsh, but he knew damn well that she wasn't a threat to him or his family.

Sure, they shouldn't have been on his property without permission.. But does that constitute a fucking emergency???

The man is an idiot, plain and simple.

3 more years of NOTHING getting done at city hall because the majority of councilors don't want to tarnish what's left of their good names by aligning themselves with this overpaid under qualified buffoon..

Way to go Ford Nation..

I've been out of town for a few days and haven't been following this story. Have the 911 calls or transcripts been released?

Fuji, wasn't the third call from 911 to RF?

It was such an alarming and grave situation(this Driveway-gate) that Robbie waddled into his vehicle and high-tailed his flummoxed ass away(driver's side conspicuously and dangerously scrapping the roadway) in less than 10 harrowing minutes. The police arrived, his royal fatness nowhere to be found, then phoned dispatch and asked, "Where is that fat-fuck now?"

Giving the finger to motorists, texting while driving and repeatedly screaming aloud, "Get a job! Get a job!" to homeless people, Robbie then obliviously drove away with visions of powdered sugar timbits and gravy-ladened cheeseburgers dancing in his head.

Outsource Rob Ford's job. This man is a total fool!

The bottom line is that the left will grasp at anything in their hatred of Ford, even lies from the sinkhole CBC. It truly is amazing that the sloppy socialists can't figure out that you can't spend more than you bring in. You can't spend 11 million a year more on garbage just so CUPE is happy and puts up your lawn signs next time out or have 100 more trucks in the fleet than you need. You can't have runaway overtime just so your union supporters are happy. See how easy it was to save 1.5 million just in office budgets?

The problem with socialists is that they're great at spending other peoples money. Toronto is so out of touch with the rest of the province it is scary. Want to fix your revenue problem and spend the way all you lefties want to? Raise your property taxes to the same levels as the rest of the province. You'll have money to burn. Until then, the rest of us are tired of your whining.

Can you explain why it is understandable? To me it seems like a completely frivolous 911 call, and that he should be paying some sort of fine for wasting EMS's time.
TORONTO - Why was Mayor Rob Ford so alarmed when he got ambushed in his driveway?

The Sun obtained one of the death threats Ford has received since being elected a year ago and it shines some light on his state of mind when it comes to a perceived threat — even if it turns out to be a leather-clad woman with a plastic sword from This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

In the one-page, unsigned letter sent to the mayor, Ford’s life, along with the life of his wife and children, are repeatedly threatened.

“Glad to know you’re open to having anyone visit your home,” the writer states. “Where we come from in our native land we hunt scumbags like you down and feed them to the animals...but your fat would probably kill them.

“We think that wouldn’t be enough so instead we might take your littlest one and then your wife. That might help you understand what hardship you’re inflicting upon many citizens of a city that’s being put under undeserved stress aside from hard-working employees being tormented with injustice.”

The letter goes on to talk about how hard working the city employees are compared to management and then criticized Ford for his privileged background.

“Not everyone has a silver spoon to live off of like you, a******,” the letter states.

The writer tells Ford not to bother spending money on security.

“Nothing will stop us from getting to your family — unless you get run over by a streetcar before you have them taken away, too,” the letter states. “That would be too easy for us. Watching you suffer is more satisfying.

“This is a warning — next time — will be the real deal you Fat F*** — better start working out, you’ll need the strength to get back up when you’ve fallen over from shock.”

The letter concludes by urging Ford to change or “be changed forever.”

“The clock’s ticking so watch your personal home, work and life...very carefully!!” the letter ends.

They aren't on the tit of the taxpayer to the tune of 1.1 billion are they?

So rather than arguing the point (whether or not the douche bag was justified in calling 911 to deal with a camera crew), you'd rather go back to babbling about gravy?

Give up... The man's gone in 3 years. It's only a matter of thwarting his efforts to turn Toronto into his dream city (Mississauga). In less than a year he went from winning a landslide victory to being the 2nd most hated mayor in Canada.

dirk, what has that got to do with a gramma in a warrior princess costume with a TV crew?

I mean it's terrible that Ford has received these threats, but she was hardly a threat, hardly looked like a threat. No reasonable person would see her as a threat.

It was a completely frivolous 911 call.

Fuji, the point is that a person's home should be off limits. I'd have no issue with them ambushing him at City Hall or at a public event. That's fair game. The CBC crossed the line.

We'll see about that. Somehow I think the babbling left will be babbling for eight years. And yeah, I do think he was justified and the CBC owes an apology for violating his privacy at home and then lying about it.

The CBC crossed the line.
Nobody's is doubting that they may have "crossed the line".. Although I would be more inclined to argue it was more "poor taste" than anything else.

The argument is whether or not he felt a real an immediate threat (requiring 2 calls to 911). The answer is unquestionably "NO! There was no threat to his or his family's safety".

Lying about it?? Are you fucking nuts?? They shot the entire thing on camera and then broadcast it to the entire fucking country.. They were proud of their ability to catch him off guard at home...

You know what I love about this? People make it sound like the CBC crawled in through the window and terrorized his home. For fuck's sake, Rob Ford is a big, strapping boy with a vicious temper and likes to verbally abuse anyone that gets in his way. So let's just assume for a moment he's a fucking adult, and not a petulant, bullying child. They approached him on his driveway, not in his home. So yes, technically, they were "at his home", but just barely.

Any ADULT would have said "please, this is my home, can we do this at my office" and taken the air right out of the skit and basically turned public opinion on a dime. Problem motherfucking solved. After they don't get off his property, he just goes back inside, waits for them to leave. Bingo.

What's fascinating to me is here's a guy who was democratically elected (as in: he sought the job), is the Mayor of the biggest city in Canada, and has publicly acted like a moronic jackass on every possible occasion, yet the Right goes apeshit over a CBC comedy show, and starts the sympathy train and the violins over.....NOTHING. As if he was some Joe Blow who got trapped and assaulted at his home. He's a very important PUBLIC figure, who avoids the media like the plague. Not saying I blame him, but guess what happens when you avoid the media like the plague AS A PUBLIC FIGURE. People come looking for you.

Grow some big boy pants if you're gonna be in the hot seat and cut your knife through people's lives. We can argue whether what you're doing is good for the city, but please spare me the fucking whining on what was a harmless comedy sketch.

I find the guy offensive in too many other ways. The lack of culture, any sense of vision for the "city he loves", no accommodation to its history, stupid asshole comments about gays, Chinese, physically intimidating reporters who piss him off....the list goes on.

Bottom line: Ford got caught showing his true colors: dishing it with a heart of gold, but crying like a child when someone--gently--skewers him in his driveway. Grow the fuck up.

As I said before, David Miller was MUCH tougher than Rob Ford. (Not saying Miller was a good mayor, just saying by comparison)

Oh wait.. You mean lying about whether or not he was verbally abusive towards the 911 operator..

So you mean Rob Ford has elected to release these tapes to the media?!?! OH WAIT!!! No he didn't.. So suck it!

Until the tapes are released I would say the jury's still out on that one.. In the meantime, I wouldn't bother bringing it up in an argument. Most Ford critics aren't overly concerned with how he treated the 911 operator verbally. The problem is he is treating the 911 service like it's his direct line to his own personal security detail (which it is not).

Why? Since when can you not knock on someone's door and ask them some questions?

Politicians love to come and knock on my door, why can't I knock on theirs?

At any rate, even if you think that a person's home should be off limits, that is not a 911 call. That is a completely frivolous waste of 911's time and Ford should reimburse the taxpayer for the exorbitant bill he unnecessarily rang up through his frivolous 911 calling. Not to mention that he put people's lives at risk by diverting emergency services from potentially real, actual life threatening situations.
