Wow you got me on this one, never heard before in my life. Interesting the producer of the track is Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo. He was a Philly guy and mix engineer for many of the hip hop artists out of Philly, including my man Schoolly D. I did not know he was a co-founder of Ruffhouse Records.

The rapper is Everlast. Before this he dropped a solo LP 'Forever Everlasting' in 1990. Included on that LP was Ice T and Donald D, part of the Rhyme Syndicate. I still have that on vinyl, I thought it was overlooked.

Kish is Japanese-Canadian. Good tune.
I think he was half Caucasian half Asian so close enough. I didn't know what happened to him after so just looked up his bio. He's a prolific voice actor.

Only a true Canadian hip-hop head would know about Kish in the first place. His music has been lost to history.

I'm happy he found success after his rap career.
1990's Canadian hip hop was a treasure trove. Maestro Fresh Wes paved the way. It helped that 2/3 of Main Source were Canadian as well.

I'm a pretty big Xzibit fan. A somewhat overlooked west coast talent. This one is my favorite. Produced by Diamond D.

Mellow Man Ace scored a pretty big hit with "Mentirosa". Here he is on the hip house tip. I only found out about this song about a decade ago.

"Welcome To My Groove" (1992). Produced by Steve "Silk" Hurley

The sample is of course MFSB's "K-Jee", one of the greatest instrumentals of the Philly Soul era.

No correction required. I wonder if it was pre-Spector? At least pre-"Wall Of Sound"...

This is a Luther Vandross cover of "Superstar" which I always thought was a Carpenters original but they too covered it. The original song was by Delaney & Bonnie (1969). I do love how Luther made it his own.

"Superstar/Until You Come Back to Me"

Its long but so worth the listen.

Menace II Society is my favorite hood film. The soundtrack was just ok though.
