Has anyone checked out Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski yet??
Dude's fastball tops out at 101-102mph, his slider at 95mph, and his curve at 90mph.
How TF is anyone supposed to hit that??!!

I think after this season there is only a player option for 2026. Not good.
Its a gamble for sure, but if it pays off then it might work
Not sure. It was not hit and run and he had to make sure throw was not to the plate so he waited for the throw to first
Is that not the third base coach decision?
In hindsight a throw to the plate would have stopped a triple play but not a double play to first and that depends on hitters speed and speed of guy on third

What about trading Santander? He is probably out this year and I dont want him back in and messing up the chemistry but good for 30 + homers for the next few years. He would make a good pick for some team if the Jays eat some of his contract
Why would a contender want to trade for Santander at the deadline? He is out for the year.
Why would a non-contender want to trade for Santander's contract?
Its not a move that really has any real need to be done at the deadline, perhaps something can be done in the offseason, but then you are trading him at a low with very little value even eating part of his contract,
Best thing is to hope he turns it around next year and stick with him.

Disappointed to see Khal traded, he was probably the closest to joining the big team either a year from now or the start of 2027.
They still have Johnny King, Trey Yesavage, etc., but they aren't as close.
Hopefully Bieber exercises his $16M option for next year and stays for a bit.

Stephens was a hit, but I thought it was a decent risk. I can certainly see Cleveland doing some good with him -- they do well with young starting prospects.
If Bieber pitches well, I think he opts out. But at the same time if he pitches well, it should also help the relationship with the Jays so he is open to signing an extension with us. We will have money to spend as we will certainly let go of one of Bassitt and Scherzer, if not both.
Shane Bieber is a former Cy Young Award winner, (2020 COVID season), and an excellent fielder, (Gold Glove in 2023). He hasn't allowed many home runs. I addition to the Tommy John surgery in 2024, he missed about half of the 2022 season with a strained shoulder.
What really stands out for me in his stats is the decline from 2020 to 2023 in his strikeouts per 9 innings, (14.2 in 2020; 7.5 in 2023), ERA, (1.63 vs 3.80), and strikeout to walk ratio, (5.81 vs 3.15).
He's had for rehab starts in 2025, totaling 11 1/3 innings, including 4 innings in AA. The Guardians have been trying to trade him since their fall from contention in the AL Central in the middle of May.
He has a $10 Million contract for 2025, with $16 Million Player Option for 2026/ $4 Million buyout. If he's healthy after the season, he'll take the $4 Million and elect free agency, and if he's not, the Jays will have to pay him $16 Million while he rehabs.
In a famous error, Topps misnamed him Justin on the back of his rookie card:

I think you are probably misinterpreting the $4M buyout. He doesn't get to opt out and also collect $4million. The buyout is for the Jays to consider
At the end of the season, it would play out as follows:
- If he does really well and is healthy, he likely rejects his player option and becomes a free agent.
- If he does just OK or sucks/gets hurt, he exercises the $16M player option
- If he exercices his $16M player option the Jays then have the choice to pay him that $16 million (which they would if he was OK), or just buy him out for $4 million.
Basically if he stinks or is damaged goods, the Jays have the ability to cut him a cheque for $4 million at the end of the year and be done with it. That would still be a terrible scenario for the Jays as they gave up a good prospect for that.
I'm assuming the Jays are viewing this as a rental, with a good chance to re-sign / extend if he does as they expect.

This has been a problem in Cricket, where it's call 'spot fixing'. Spot fixing is an intentional misplay which doesn't affect the result/ point spread of a match.
A Test Match in Cricket can last for five days, with seven hours of play per day, weather permitting. Tests still draw decent crowds in England, India and Australia, but this form of the game is incompatible with modern attention spans for most people. It's not uncommon for a Test match in a country like Bangladesh to draw less than 100 spectators.
Tests are, however, big money makers for gamblers, particularly in the Indian subcontinent. Punters gamble on the results of individual deliveries, as opposed to the final score.
Certain outcomes of a delivered ball are very common, (zero or one run scored), and other results are uncommon, (wicket taken, leg-bye, etc.).
In 2009, three players from the Pakistan Test team, including the team captain, were given lengthy suspensions for spot-fixing/ colluding with gamblers in a series played in England. This involved bowlers delivering a 'no ball' at specific times.
Most 'no balls' happen when the bowler is too close when his foot lands prior to the delivery, (very similar to the foul in Long Jump). Normally a 'no ball' might occur naturally about 1% of the time, (it's a 1 run penalty, and the result of the ball is nullified, unless the batting side scores). Typically, a 'no ball' call happens when the bowler's foot is a few inches or less in front of the crease. In the 2009 scandal, several times Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir made deliveries well over a foot in front of the crease.
If he's healthy at the beginning of the off season, there's no way that he'll take the $16 Million/ one year player option.
It's very possible that the Jays would not have to pay the buyout if he elects free agency.
