I thought your studies showed the standards are very low and the training is even less intense.
That is certainly one of the things that comes up in international comparisons - the standards for becoming a cop in the US are much much lower.

They have the badge, you have to respect them. Not just respect them, obey them.
Obeying isn't really enough either - you need to comply.

If you do not comply, they have every right to use as much force as necessary to make you comply.

Sorry, I added the stats after my initial post but do think there is likely some inaccuracies due to older cops who probably joined the force before stricter requirements.

Considering how much they get paid compared to the military I am surprised that a 4 year degree isn't a requirement.
