Not really. Tesla is working right now on EV trucks that will replace those 18 wheeler Diesels. Because those trucks have bigger platforms their bigger batteries will have a range of 600-800 miles before having to be recharged. No shifting of gears and capable of going 0-60 mph ~5 seconds!
My next vehicle will be an EV. Batteries are only improving and getting better with faster recharging.
Right now KIA is offering EVs with a 10 year vehicle warranty that covers both vehicle and battery!
Internal combustion engines are going the way of the horse & buggy.
EVs, LPG, CNG and upcoming Vehicles with fuel cells are the way of the future.
