Thank you Charlotte for posting your experience, I don't want to be merely trite so I'm not going to write much, but again thank you.
Given his other actions, that is among the least of his sins.http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebri...archesa/ar-AAtp77i?li=AA2qN5v&ocid=spartandhp
Felicity Huffman says that HW forced actresses to wear his wife's fashion brand.
Utterly repulsive. Justifying and downplaying rape!Alcohol lowers our inhibitions and we openly express what we're all about. For young guys, the default is sex and aggression. For girls, it's submission. These two played their drunken roles as expected. Who knows, the dude was probably so drunk he doesn't remember the incident at all or thought he was dreaming, while she, in her tired drunken state, can recall every last detail.
I honestly don't see relevant parallels with what Harvey did on the casting couch. It doesn't like drugs or alcohol were a factor.
It doesn't matter what his mental state was. Being drunk isn't a licence to rape. What the fuck are you thinking?"We all remember the first ones" when we're drunk and tired? Not necessarily.
There is no mention of him bragging about it the next day either. You have a vivid imagination.
Was he right to pressure her? No. Do we know his mental state and whether he was pissed drunk? No. Let's not speculate. What we do know is that young guys are horny and adding alcohol to the mix can lead to regretful behaviour.
This was some drunk college kid trying to get his dick wet. A far cry from a sober top dog millionaire Hollywood elite.
Having a different opinion with regard to context and perspective is not "dismissing" someone else's experience.
Yes after a few drinks and the real person comes out. Yet your conclusion is the opposite of what that looks like. Are you saying that after a few drinks the real person comes out? That Charlotte actually wanted it?
Drunk people must be punished when they break the law - e.g. drunk driving, rape.It doesn't matter what his mental state was. Being drunk isn't a licence to rape. What the fuck are you thinking?
Unbelievable.
This is not a justification for rape. It is an acknowledgement of what happens quite often and an explanation for why it's common. It doesn't make it right, but it does give you tools to warn your daughters about the real dangers of mixing alcohol and boys, and being alone in a bedroom with a boy that's been aggressive with you the entire night, and can't seem to get the message that his advances are unwanted. It's an especially toxic mix for young folks because it's not just the sex alone but the desire for acceptance, status, and popularity that are at play.Utterly repulsive. Justifying and downplaying rape!
You have no morals at all. None.
In this world there are many example of do what you have to do to get noticed, to get ahead. You almost see it on a daily basis. I am sure Harvey victimized many of these ladies and many were unwilling. I suspect the vast majority had some idea of what was expected of them. Why is it that there were no official complaints in the past.
It's all part of a system of control of people in his industry. Actresses who refused to wear his wife's designs were blacklisted.Given his other actions, that is among the least of his sins.
I'm absolutely going to pass judgement. Rape is evil and wrong. I'm judging you as well, for justifying and downplaying it.You don't know what his mental state was, nor hers for that matter. This is why things like this belong in a court room, not on TERB, to pass judgement.
Err, shouldn't you be referring directly to the explanations of the many actresses who said that they were harassed, but were previously afraid to come forward and not to one of your favourite "political commentators", Smallcock?Lauren Southern explains how it was able to happen for so long.
Lauren goes beyond that analysis which we all know to be true.Err, shouldn't you be referring directly to the explanations of the many actresses who said that they were harassed, but were previously afraid to come forward and not to one of your favourite "political commentators", Smallcock?
At this point, the truth is not only "out there" but it is in your living room, in your face and easily accessible directly from first hand participants.
They were afraid that their careers and lives would be ruined by a powerful man and that they would be ostracised by everyone lese they knew in the film industry. I don't need Lauren Southern to explain it to me.
That's what you say. Let us ask all the women in your life about whether they agree.I've gotten drunk many times in my life. Not once did I rape somebody. Nor did I steal anything. Nor drive drunk.
Yes that's what I say. Meanwhile you justify and downplay rape. That's what you say. Let us ask all the women in your life about whether they agree.
He is not accused of trading sex for promotion. He is accused of rape.So it seems that actresses willing to offer sex got further ahead than prudes and it had being going on for decades. I wonder what all these Hollywood movies would look like if prudes did not have a disadvantage.
I'm not gonna justify rape. But surely there was a whole lot of trading sex for promotion going on. Which I'm also not gonna justify. But it reminds me of Bill Maher's saying "I have never done heroin. I would never recommend heroin, but it hasn't hurt my record collection".He is not accused of trading sex for promotion. He is accused of rape.
They had a clause wherein he'd have to reimburse the company up to $250K in liquidated damages. According to employment lawyer here (Howard Levitt I believe), that could potentially mean liability to the company or it's officials that designed or know about such a clause. So I don't think firing him now can absolve them of being past accessories.Smart move. They gotta protect the company from potential lawsuits.
No doubt he was part of the decision.
