He'll get a board seat and be able to help make some strategic decisions. But is he going to impose some massive change? No. Why would he? He wants to have it remain a successful company, and if he mucks it up, it'll fall like Meta/Facebook. Plus, the other board members would vote against it. So, yes, he is now semi important in Twitter, but he ain't calling the shots. How is having 9.2% gonna make him the captain of anything?
He will be the largest shareholder but nowhere near a majority.
What is he gonna do, take over as CEO?
Doesn't seem likely.
Good on him for being smart enough to know that "making his own social network" would just have been a complete failure and trying to buy someone else's instead, but I doubt this means much of anything other than him throwing his money around.
What makes me laugh is that Twitter is a business. It really isn't about Free Speech. They have community guidelines that say you cannot promote violence or other things. The reality is, Musk is missing the point. I mean, a newspaper might have a comments section, but they will remove anything defamatory or hate speech.
What makes me laugh is people believe what they are told by these media companies. The CEO and its members all speak on behalf of their major investor and always support their interests. To them money and shareholders matter over what they claim they stand for. They are just pawns or puppets to be strung by their masters. They don’t care and have not cared in a while to do what is right or what they say they stand for. Elon wants to make Twitter algorithm open source. He will also attract his circle of investors to pile on. Also people assume that he is done buying. Right now he has Jack and ARK investors on his side. Pretty sure their circles will have majority stake if not already then eventually. What makes me laugh is that Twitter is a business. It really isn't about Free Speech. I certainly hope that he stands by his principles. He is completely right about the town square concept and the need for combating all forms of censorship. I'm very excited that he is on board and literally putting his money where his mouth is. I might even get myself a Twitter account, now.View attachment 135585

soon they will find out what this means

Elon Musk buys 9.2 percent of Twitter amid complaints about free speech
‘Is a new platform needed?’ he asked last month.www.theverge.com
I think it's cute that you believe those conspiracy theories, yet also believe mainstream journalists are all liberals. It just doesn't add up.What makes me laugh is people believe what they are told by these media companies. My question is when did the concept of free expression became such danger and exactly to whom?![]()
Twitter employees TRIGGERED by Elon Musk buying ownership stake in platform
Elon Musk is now one of the largest shareholders in the platform, with 9.2 percent ownership.thepostmillennial.com
toxic employees shitting their pants because they know they can’t hide anymore and spread their toxicity
But terbs know it alls will keep regurgitating each other’s drivel and tell you he has no influence.
Actual free speech threatens them outside the confines defined through their paradigm lock.
The way I understand it is they have their idea of what free speech and expression is as validated through their echo chambers and if this is outside this paradigm they will scream, call names and revolt. My question is when did the concept of free expression became such danger and exactly to whom?
I'm only afraid that Elon opened a real Pandora's' Box. The lefties will throw everything, including the kitchen sink and their fetuses, at him in order to destroy him. This is going to be Tucker × 1 000 000. There's nothing that threatens their madness more than open conversations. The way I understand it is they have their idea of what free speech and expression is as validated through their echo chambers and if this is outside this paradigm they will scream, call names and revolt.
As I understand it Musk intends on open sourcing the algos so everyone sees how they function and adopt a more universal approach to enable true free speech and not the left or middle or upside down paradigm to reign supreme. He plans to make it transparent and open. Right now nobody knows how the algos function and how much human influence and ideological influence they have at Twitter HQ.
He has contacts to some very talented programmers for example Lex Friedman and his circles.
This threatens the left paradigm because they feel like their way is the way and anything else is hateful bigoted etc. they can’t see anything else as true.
Good thing for us we have technology to get us outside all of ours paradigm locks.
Highly unlikely that they will have any impact. The vast majority of people are on his side and support open source and transparency. It’s the few prolific posters and bot accounts that spread fear and misinformation and this toxic left ideology and try to use fear and intimidation to get their way. They infiltrated and took control over censorship and dug their own grave in these companies. All they are doing now is stepping in it and allowing their compadres to burry them in it.I'm only afraid that Elon opened a real Pandora's' Box. Why do you back the party that bans books, passes 'don't say gay' and then try to claim you're for free speech? My question is when did the concept of free expression became such danger and exactly to whom?
