i think chief is just trying different lines, but bobby mcmatthews will be bumped up come playoff time

Tanev has 19 hits. That's not his game. His game is shot blocking, positioning, reading plays.
He doesn't hit much but he's Leafs most important defenseman.
I think with a bigger team around him Marner is going to play with more courage this time around in the playoffs. He played with no fear early in his career in the playoffs and then those over the glass panic plays set in.
Ideally Max P will be healthy and get up to speed for the playoffs and play with John and Willy.
Leafs had a known deficient 3rd line. Hence the lofty price paid for Laughton but it turned out he wasn't it.

A new acronym "FOGO" Face Off, Get Off. John Taveres takes the face off and wins it, and he gets off the ice for a change. This was used in recent Leaf OT games.
Robertson had a pretty sick goal at the end there. Feel bad for Buffalo, worst year they've had since 21-22 and their organization has made zero developmental moves while languishing not even in a Top-5 drafting spot. Just ship them to Quebec at this point cause Pegula doesn't give a shit now that the Bills are relevant again.
Sadly that day won't be coming for a while. I miss the aesthetic of the Nordiques, and the Habs-Nords rivalry, so much.

I like that line of Laughton/Lorentz/Jarnkrok. Lorentz seems to have the ability to score clutch goals. They can be a very effective checking 3rd line. McMann would compliment the Tavares/Nylander line better but that would leave Domi and Robertson on the same line. That could be a defensive liability.
