Playoff hockey is the best hockey, especially when your team is in it. I hope the Leafs can do something special this year, GO LEAFS GO!

Full marks to the Leafs tonight. They took advantage of all their opportunities and Stolarz played great.

Sens took too many penalties although some were borderline.

Leafs take game one. However, Ottawa looked good 5 on 5, despite the score being 6-2. Ottawa self-inflicted wounds (too many dumb penalties) did themselves in as the Leafs' PP went to work 3 for 6.

It's only 1 game but what looks different:
They appear to have a goalie.
They appear bigger and not scared.
They appear to have a PP that works.
Their core Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Rielly, Knies scored and Matthews had 2 primary assists.
Their bottom 2 lines are not getting caved in. Same for the bottom pairing.

Overall, the Leafs look like a more mature, more composed, and more experienced team.

Hopefully the Leafs have decided to stop roasting marshmallows during the playoffs and Chuck roasts Jayson Tatum.

What I liked about this win :

- the power play clicked, not only it helped to win the game, obviously the Sens figured the best way to beat the Leafs is to be physical and nasty and a good pp will make them a little hesitant;
-Stolarz bobbled the puck that led to a Sens’ goal but he made several huge saves when he absolutely had to;
- the Laughton/Jarnkrok/Lorantz line was great, scored when they’re on and had a great chance for another.
- both Nylander and Robertson were throwing hits at the start of the game and the team played with discipline throughout the game.

What I didn’t like :
-only one, Reilly was weak on the covering his man when Stolarz was bobbling the puck, and had a terrible giveaway to BK when it was 2-1, he scored a fluky goal but luck won’t be repeating too often. It may seem I’m always picking on Rielly but I just don’t get a good feeling when he’s on the ice defending.

I thought the Leafs played a strong game and got contributions throughout their line-up.
(And that is a really hard thing for me to say as a Habs fan !!! :))

If the Sens don't play with more discipline this could be a very short series.
I’m cheering for a Montreal upset over Washington and a Leafs vs Canadiens series again. That’ll be a lot of fun to watch.

Knies was the most utilized player for the Leafs. More than any D and more than Marner.
McCabe was the most utilized D and he played under 20 min.
Laughton was the 6th most utilized forward behind the big 5 and the most utilzed forward on the PK.
Robertson the least utilized. Holmberg the second least utilized is moving up to play with John and Willy.
They'll shelter Domi and Robertson. McMann as a result is 3rd least utilized carrying that line.
Doesn't look like Domi, Robertson, Holmberg will ever be a viable line in the playoffs.

What I liked about this win :

- Rielly’s performance, couldn’t have won without his contribution. I owe him no apology for my criticism on him because he deserved them but for this one game he deserved all the credit; he’s the highest paid d man on the Leafs and that‘s the kind of performance you’d expect.
- Benoit, he’s everything you look for in the 6th d man. He’s steady, physical and now made a huge contribution on the winning goal.

What I didn’t like :
- Robertson’s careless penalty. Perhaps replace him with Max Pac for the next game and put McMann back on the Tavares/Nylander line.

Are the Turds press going to make the spurious claim that Max Domi is a wife beater.

Btw who's doing the broadcast for Sportsnet, I stream with Joe Bowen exclusively.
