I think putting them on was yes.
You mean a legitimate mistake made by someone who was elected in part because of his financial experience?
That's scary.

Unless you mean it was a campaign mistake based on doing it to win the election?
That's scary as well.

the entire liberal platform was portraying Carny as the best option to stand up against trump
do not try to change history because Carny secured the PMs position via deceit and has since caved into trump
Liberal supporters have put themselves in a precarious morale position.

They voted for someone who deceived them, but can't admit they were deceived as that would be a hard reality to accept and admit to.

So instead, they're in "we'll just believe he knows what he's doing and justify his decisions after the fact" mode.

In other words, "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" ...and yes they were fooled again.

And the entire Conservative campaign was built on defeating Trudeau. After that their perceived ambiguity about how much they opposed Trump, coupled with PP's lack of international experience became a factor.

The polling clearly showed while the parties were within percentages, the leaders were not. There was at one point 10% between who was preferred as PM. Now look at the collapse of the NDP and lessened Bloc voters. That all went to Carney. People said in what had gone from a Trudeau must go election to, who will Take on Trump election, that they preferred Carney to do the job. It's really that simple.

I know you are bitter you didn't get to see Trudeau at the polls. But the simple fact is the Liberals won because Carney was the preferred choice. Any election is essentially won or lost by its leader. He couldn't hold his own seat.

And you need to add IN MY OPINION to the whole caved to Trump thing. IN MY OPINION running to Trump, giving him what he wants, as you keep on demanding, is Caving in. Your trade cowardice position is by far the more self defeating one.

And you prefer his and the GOP policies apparently. Be a quisling if you want to be, but the rest of us will stand firm for you.

What is scary is staying within an ideology and not adapting. Of being stubbornly wrong. He looked at how the world was reacting and made a course correction. Guess what? Our Dollar is up, and the USA is headed for implosion. Trump is railing about tariffs elsewhere, and our negotiations are quietly continuing. I think it's a better choice than keeping tariffs on at this point. The grassroots boycott is doing a better job. Why do you think 5 Senators showed up and 6 State Governor delegations are coming up next month? They are genuinely worried. It's starting to have a real affect. Tariffs will only be a tax on Canadians. Answer this, do you support Canadians paying more tax?

Oh and Parliament starts after today. Weren't you the one railing about needing its approval to do shit? Well that's about to happen.

The election is over. You need to accept the results. Stop crying over how you didn't get the chance to stick it to Trudeau. I have seen this emotional response in friends. If you need to blame the loss blame PP. He was the leader, couldn't even hold his own seat. That was why they lost. Not tariff policy.

he publicly declared he was going to stand up to Trump and he asked the electorate to vote for him based on the promise of standing up to Trump

Are you now trying to claim standing up to trump involves caving on reciprocal tariffs and then ......... waiting ?
In this case, yes. Because we are not alone. Notice the lack of outcry? It's because we Canadians are boycotting. It's far more effective. And judging from things, it's genuinely starting to work. Meanwhile pricing are rising down south. Companies are not going to eat tariffs.

Tariffs are taxes. Why do you want to tax Canadians MORE?

Is "coarse correction" what we're calling "copying Conservative policies that were previously demonized" now?

Our dollar hasn't even reached where it was in Aug 2024! You seriously want to throw that in as a measure of Carney's success? Wow!

The Liberals lied to you for a decade and you believe rewarding them with continued power is the solution?

They forced Canadians to pay more taxes for the past 6 years. Why did you support it then and not now all of a sudden?

An ideology typically takes a very long time to change and adapt. Not a couple months...and then flip back a month after that. You're not that gullible are you?

You sound like you were played and are now trying to justify why it was ok to have been played. That's what it seriously sounds like and I'm not trying to insult you. It borders on Stockholm Syndrome.

Well yes, they listened to Canadians. Hence different policy. New leader, new policy. Do you think Trudeau was like Martin? Like Chretien? Is PP like Mulroney? Hell is he even like Harper?

I don't have a problem with most taxes. Travel to a third world nation or parts of the US and I can see where they are going. But we do pay enough thank you. Adding another 10-25% sales tax on several items will not help people.

BTW. I voted for the Conservatives. Imo Trump will be Trump and it actually didn't matter to me who dealt with him at that point. I preferred the tax policy on seniors by the Conservatives as that will be me coming up. As well Carney is a private equity dude and I dislike them, just as a rule.

However that doesn't mean I'm a partisan. As I watch Carney up to this limited point I'm not opposed to his present direction. Tariffs will only hurt little people and small businesses. Our grassroots boycott is far better. He is a process guy and is thinking longer term than next week. That is the central banker coming out in him. Yes when it comes to macro economics, national economics, and dealing with other international trade partners it appears he will be a good choice. A known quantity with a reputation that will start us from a position of trust. PP has little reputation and what little he has is not what's needed here.

So he gets a year. With a minority govt. And we shall see.

PP failed you. I can see you are taking that personally. It's an election. Just accept the loss. If Carney fails, a new election will happen, and he will get his shot.

I asked you how does the word initiate have two meanings in my response.
No that's not what you said but nice try.

Maybe next time, instead of devoting your time to editing other people's posts you can actually put effort into your own responses so you don't look stupid.

Poilievre didn't fail considering he helped kick Trudeau out the door and the Conservatives had the best showing in the election in a very long time. He even managed to put forward policies that the Liberals "adopted" as their own including getting them to axe the tax and implement better immigration control.
Conservatives are no longer labelled climate change deniers and xenophobes thanks to Liberals coming to terms with what Poilievre has been fighting for the past several years.
Carney won't accomplish anything and Trump will be gone in a few years. Perfect for the Conservatives to swoop in with a majority government and actually get things done. That's better than having ended up with a minority right now so it will be worth the wait.

See? So relax a bit. Imo if policy gets adopted I don't care who does it. I remember it was Chretien who actually cleaned up our original refugee policy in the 90's when the Conservatives fumbled that ball. As long as my govt is listening I'm good.

Trudeau didn't listen. Carney did. I agree removing the carbon tax was a good thing. And immigration policy is improving as well.

If Carney fails he will pay the price.

Your government isn't listening. They are copying.
If they were listening they would have listened before ruining the country over the past decade and not just listening when they are threatened with losing power.
Not a good precedent especially when they demonized anyone who would challenge them on the very policies they have suddenly adopted.
Comes down to trust and integrity.
I would rather support a party whose policies are consistent than supporting a party who shifts like the wind when desperate to cling to power.
Adapting is one thing. Changing ideology overnight is another. Totally disingenuous and I wouldn't respect myself for falling for that tactic.

Judging by the past decade, you've been giving the benefit of the doubt out like free candy! Lol!
How did that work out?

That is exactly what I asked.

Your statement that the word initiate has two meanings in this context doesn't even make sense.
That is not your original response.
Nice try.

Devote more time to your responses rather than editing other's posts and maybe they will make more sense and you won't look so foolish.

Your original comment about the word initiate having two meanings in my response made no sense anyway.
I asked you how the word initiate in my question can be interpreted in more ways than one.
You are still not able to articulate just like you aren't able to articulate the impact of carbon taxes or do basic grade school math.

As I said. I voted Conservative this time. And the last 3 times. I never trusted or liked Trudeau. That one, especially after the refugee bullshit, WE charity shit had to go then. Once he froze bank accounts I said absolutely gone.

You just tried to strawman. Smarten up.

And the entire Conservative campaign was built on defeating Trudeau.
starting your response with 'and' clearly implies you agree that Carny secured the PMs position via deceit and has since caved into trump

After that their perceived ambiguity about how much they opposed Trump, coupled with PP's lack of international experience became a factor.
bullshit
pierre was clear from word go that Canada would never become the 51st state

you are parroting the deceit of the liberal campaign

The polling clearly showed while the parties were within percentages, the leaders were not. There was at one point 10% between who was preferred as PM. Now look at the collapse of the NDP and lessened Bloc voters. That all went to Carney. People said in what had gone from a Trudeau must go election to, who will Take on Trump election, that they preferred Carney to do the job. It's really that simple.
who will Take on Trump election was the liberal narrative, yet carneys actions say other wise

I know you are bitter you didn't get to see Trudeau at the polls.
quite the opposite
Trudeau was a curse on Canada
the current version of the Trudeau boot licking liberal party remains a curse on Canada
the job is half done

if Carney implements the conservative platform he promised in the campaign, it will be an improvement on the Trudeau disaster
if he does not, there will be another election soon

ponder this
Carney is leading a bunch of fools who somehow actually believed in the moron Trudeau
you are delusional if you think the corruption and mismanagement will now go away

But the simple fact is the Liberals won because Carney was the preferred choice. Any election is essentially won or lost by its leader. He couldn't hold his own seat.
you have not seen the last of Pierre P

And you need to add IN MY OPINION to the whole caved to Trump thing. IN MY OPINION running to Trump, giving him what he wants, as you keep on demanding, is Caving in. Your trade cowardice position is by far the more self defeating one.
you are not paying attention
i do not advocate caving to Trump, rather i expect Canada can eliminate long standing trade irritantants softwood lumber and secure our share of the auto sector
however we will need to give on anti free trade supply management and social media taxation to obtain these wins
and we need to be willing to do a deal instead of foolishly waiting

And you prefer his and the GOP policies apparently. Be a quisling if you want to be, but the rest of us will stand firm for you.
Stowe that ignorant quisling bullshit
i did not ask for this trade war
What is wrong with you ?
