Ford nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ford more years!!!!!!!!!!!! Ford more years!!!!!!!!!!!!
To his credit, Rob Ford has done something that none of his challengers have done, he won the mayor's seat.

This is what is going to happen next, if Rob Ford still wants to be mayor, he may not, because the pressure has proved to be too intense.

Step 1. Keep repeating the message of cut the gravy and tax cuts. Volunteers and like minded candidates will do that while he's in self-imposed exile.

Step 2. Finish rehabilitating himself.

Step 3. Decide if he really wants to run.

Step 4. This is most important step. Hold a political rally.

The numbers of ordinary citizens who would turn out for a Ford Fest will be the only good indication of his chances.

If that political rally is as good as the previous ones ...

Yeah mon!

:p

Based on having seen how will she works first hand, she will be a great mayor. She has never been anyone's puppet.
I like Olivia, but she's a light weight.

Rob Ford a light weight too, but he had a very narrow focus, which is what the city needs after the Miller regime.

Olivia if she wins, will turn out to be another Kathline Wynne.

Ineffective.

I hope he does this, otherwise Tory might really defeat Chow.
I don't think it is over. This is not the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is Toronto city politics.

Personally speaking, I do not think Rob Ford will come back. Who needs it?

The guy is rich, and he actually returns phone calls. Goes to Hollywood on the Jimmy Kimmel show, flies back to Toronto and the very next day he is walking in the slum landlord buildings asking the tenants rats and roaches is everything alright? He does not need this job. The drugs help him cope.

When you're obese and on hard drugs, you're a Jim Belushi waiting to happen. Even Belushi wasn't that fat.

Does his wife want him to run again? I would say no.

Does Ford Nation want him back? Obviously, yeah mon.

We have to wait for that decision from Ford. The fun really may be over.

Why fuji??? Are you saying I can't exercise my democratic right and vote for Ford again??
I think the prevailing evidence says that voting for him again would be exercising your democratic wrong.

But even so, your vote will be your secret, unless you're inviting comment.

This is a syllogistic fallacy, since those who want Ford back are Ford Nation.
What you are omitting is that many previous members are gone, leaving only the delusional die-hards to keep up the facade that all is well.
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/201...idents_think_rob_ford_should_resign_poll.html
The poll shows waning support for Ford after revelations including the existence of a second video that appears to show the mayor smoking crack cocaine, a wild night out that allegedly involved an a verbal altercation with Justin Bieber and an audio recording in which he made crude remarks about fellow mayoral candidate Karen Stintz.
“This is the new low for him,” said Forum president Lorne Bozinoff. “At this point, he’s pretty much insulted everybody in the city – women obviously, so there’s half the population right there. It looks like he’s been making racial slurs based on the reports this morning.”
Bozinoff noted that the poll does not reflect any change that would have resulted from the Star’s Friday report that Ford used racist language, including in reference to former TCHC chief executive officer Gene Jones.
...
Close to two-thirds, 63 per cent, think the mayor should resign, and 52 per cent said they would never vote for him.
“Generally he’s been in second place and this is going to put him in third place,” said Bozinoff.
Also, Olivia Chow will be a great mayor for me. She's polling well with her pragmatic approach to transit. Chow's bus pledge a hit with voters.
And she is famous for being a cyclist commuter, who will make bike infrastructure a priority so she's got my vote.

Those who say she lacks charisma have not seen her speak; I was at a volunteer session last week and she's very good in front of a crowd.

To the folks on this thread, Toronto has other reasons to be embarrassed other than Ford. Crappy public transit, crumbling Gardiner, Leafs, etc.

So to those who want him out, you will be the 1st ones crying in your soup when the new regime starts hammering us with taxes, frivolous spending, etc.

Saying "Ford is an embarrassment to the city", is b.s. No one stops visiting a city because of the mayor. Toronto is booming and continues to flourish. Just because a few late night hosts poke fun at Ford doesn't mean this has a negative impact on the city.
So get over it already.

Anyone else would do a better job of resolving these problems. Ford is incompetent. Anyone else is better for the city.

Like Ford himself, you're trying to have it both ways (and doing nothing useful) Either Toronto is a crumbling embarrassment or it is booming and flourishing.

Rob's been on Council since the '90, and Mayor for almost a term without having a single improvement for any of our ills or a single step forward (a flourish) that he can take the slightest credit for.

If all you care about is laughing at late night TV, then you haven't noticed the paralysed stagnation and the rudderless policy vacuum having a stuporous drunkard, lying in the Mayor's chair and abusing drugs in his office has made of City Council.

Never mind the endless blather and bleating about a petty slacker's personal failings, criminality, lying and incompetence that has distracted you, me and everyone else who cares about the City from real issues for the past year.

He's far away now and if he didn't lie about that too, he's getting help at last. Good luck to him, and good riddance. Now let's focus on picking a good Mayor who can be trusted to really do a job of work.

If that's Rob Ford for you, you're welcome to your choice, but for the rest of us he's running on his record.

I'm not saying vote for Ford, but did you know more bike lanes and paths have been created under Ford than Miller?

And Chow wants to ban hand guns. What the hell is she smoking?

Last election we had a choice between a stimulant addict with anger management issues, or a stimulant addict with anger management issues.

(though to be fair, unlike Ford, we have no reason to doubt Smitherman when he says he's clean these days).
And the openness of his marijuana-growing project is at polar opposite to the Fords' lying in the face of all the evidence, even about Rob being a drunkard.

More bike lanes? Not what the City Cycling Advisory Committee says. Ooops! Rob's administration did away with any citizen input on cycling in 2010. Then they took out bike lanes we already had on three arterials, and th only add I'm aware of was the overly-lavish Sherbourne one. As of 2014, the City has completed just 23% of the plan Council approved in 2001—with Rob right there on Council the whole time and in the driver's seat the last four years. No progress for you, Rob, or anyone to be boasting about.

We'll have to leave it to you to come up with the numbers that prove your statement.

I'm voting for Tory actually.

But the temptation to vote Ford and see him re-elected is a strong one, just so I can stick it to the Lefties :D

I don't have a hand gun nor plan on buying one, so that doesn't affect me. Besides, just because she wants it doesn't mean it will happen or that is within the mayor's ability. Toronto City Council couldn't even ban shark fin soup.

Do you have a link about bike lanes? I know there's a study being done for lanes along Richmond Street, and plans to put lanes on Harbord/Hoskins. But I bike 30 km every day, and around 60 today from Mel Lastman Square, around and down to Ontario Place and have not noticed any new lanes in the last few years except for the few kms of Sherbourne bike lanes.
I hope it isn't just a shell game, using the Pan-Am Path to inflate the total kilometers of bike trails.

And whatever the number is, needs to subtract the lakefront trail from Ontario Place to Cherry Street because all the construction and detours have taken out the bike trail and turned it into a perilous maze.

Also I love this, released as soon as Ford skedaddled for his vacation.

Ford was upset over a flag, this might send him on another bender!

Matt. Considering the TTC has stated that her plan to refurbish buses is unworkable due to no space for storage, lack of drivers and the fact the buses are to far gone why is it such a good idea?
Considering how busy the streets are now I don't see how it would have much effect anyway beyond a very temporary measure. Why would a driver leave to car home to take a bus in the same traffic. Sorry but this will not get drivers off the road. It will help a bit for those already taking if it was POSSIBLE but it isn't.

This is a small town solution for a big city. Like I said. Good councillor. Bad Mayor.

And what did crackhead do about any of those things?
Kill a paid for and good transit plan and waste a billion on his personal gravy train.
Ignore the Gardner reports and refuse to fix or deal with the issues.
He even made the leafs miss the playoffs.
