#7 is Garnett Exelby. do you drool over him? Can't wait to see the Leaf's new number 7 in action. He will make us forget Borje Salming.

Exelby gave his number 3 to Phaneuf and took 7.Can't wait to see the Leaf's new number 7 in action. He will make us forget Borje Salming.
Very well said, and very true!guyroch I disagree. For the first time I see some light at the end of the tunnel. Lets face it Hagman is, at best, a 2nd liner, Stajan a 3rd liner, White a 4th D man and Mayers an AHL player. We didn't lose much.
Getting Phaneuf now makes Kaberle expendable at the deadline. In return we should be able to get a front line offensive player. Now its time to dump Toskala and run.
Belfour and Giguere only Leaf goaltenders ever to get a shut out in their first starts with the team.So thoughts on Leafs 3 - Devils 0
First debut shutout since Ed Belfour.
Thoughts - wait more then one game to make any conclusions... especially good.So thoughts on Leafs 3 - Devils 0

Agree. Kaberle is one of those rare puck carrying talents who don't come often So he has defensive flaws and is not the meatballs that Burke likes with his spaghetti. But without him who is going to carry the puck up the ice during power plays especially now that Ian White is gone? Why does everyone want to trade Kaberle ??? Why not build from the goaltending out and have a strong defenisve unit which will only make Schenn stronger ... Your might as well be strong at something
and hang your hat on defense .. Trading Kabarle for a winger or draft pick will only weaken he strongest component on the team ..
I know I'm jumping to conclusion way too fast. But tognight's game is one of those I feel comfortable that Leafs could win after they scored the 2nd goal. This is a feeling I don't have for a long time.So thoughts on Leafs 3 - Devils 0

I don't think there's a really strong market for injured defencemen, but I could be wrong.Given the addition of Phaneuff and with Beauchimen and the much improved plays of Schenn lately, Komiserak is more expendable though I don't know his market value.
Yes, Phaneuf and Giguere are "impact" players and "gamechangers". They are the difference between winning by 1 goal and losing by 1 goal (and the Leafs have lost every overtime game this year). The players we lost will never be all-stars and at least one is only AHL calibre.Best Player in trades always wins
Nobody is planning a championship parade in Toronto ? Do not believe the Toronto sports media.Whoa boys don't start the stanley cup parade just yet. Burke may be overated but this trade I beleive he won. Best Player in trades always wins
