My experience after a couple of weeks:

Many ask for 500-600 PPM but can be talked down to 300-400.
So far I've found two: one who can host so no added hotel expense; she's young and cute but I think she sees a few men and is what I would describe as part-time escort. Another who simply did not specify any amount but said anything you can help! She's young and cute.
I've also agreed with a couple on 300 PPM but I'd need to find a place.

Believe me I heard stories where they make themselves the victims.
I signed up for a one month membership on seeking to see what the field looks like. Lots of bots / OF girls, but then some girls which I assume are escorts or semi-escorts, right away asking for 400-600PPM. I am not sure what's the point of this site if it's super transactional like this, might as well stick to SPs and known indys. The only interesting prospect has been this mid 20s woman who hasn't talked about a PPM but I have seen her twice for a coffee and a long walk. A woman typically prefers selling sex wholesale (eg via a long term relationship or marriage) as opposed to retail (eg sex work). An emotional connection is a classic way to achieve that. Not sure why you are surprised.
