So according to your theory, any player can only take as base on balls once otherwise he goes to second ?? Doesn't a pitcher try to throw balls as part of his overall strategy to get players to strike out ? That is intent. So why not just abolish walks and throw lollipops across the plate until a player hits it ?

Walking is part of the game. It's a team sport and you are trying to win. The idea that you risk the outcome of the game just so the $500 M man can hit a homer makes no sense. Walking a player is still putting a man on without an out. It's all about the art of odds for baseball, lefty on lefty, matchups, etc. Why fuck with it ? Maybe next time Dodgers will get two $250M hitters and make the decision a little harder.

Schneider should have walked Ohtani earlier and the odds would have been in the Blue Jays favour to win it.
Yeah the game is fine the way it is..I'm not a fan of the ghost runner in extra innings or the large bases however...I do like the pitch clock though.

Earl Weaver used to walk Reggie all the time...He said he just wasn't going to let him beat the Orioles.

Yankees would have to rely on someone else.

jays are making statement and turning the tide if they win this one

Schnieder making all the right tough calls with pen suffering

could be best of three with jays at home for 2
with our two star starters in 2 games

got into their pen which is as weak as ours after last night and started scoring

they dont dare stretch out Ohantiouy of oen

Basitt is our quiet hero struck out ohanti who is 0 for 3 with 2 strike outs

2 full innings through top of lineup

5 run lead and bottom of their order coming up

so far, he is the stopper we desperately needed

damn, Vladdy is limping !

springer looks like a no-go unless we get another 18 inning game

that could happen, then WS it is a joke!

this series may change the rule to man on second

BO IS hitting like Bo, i find that amazing

We lose Springer but we get Bo.
Vladdy is hobbling..Bo can't run and Springer is down...And they still can't be stopped.

Impressive stuff I must say.

I was streaming the American broadcast and they were saying that Schneider told them that Springer is feeling better and might come back...I'm thinking from what I saw this is disinformation though...Let's see.

If Springer was a known out for the series, they would have put him on the DLtoday to get an extra player on the roster. Presumably Rodriguez after the 18 inning debacle, or perhaps an exclusive pinch runner like Jonatan Clase.

My guess is that they are hoping Springer can make it back by Game 6 in Toronto. If not he will be placed on the injured list then.

Unlike the Loafs, the Jays don't have a shoebox.

Mr. Cool was splendid tonight, possibly the best trade Shatkins have ever made. If Bo has his timing back, the Dodgers have a problem

Is David Ortiz the Charles Barkley of MLB?

Winning without Springer
Vladdy another dinger, gives him most playoff HRs in a season by a Jay.
Bo is hitting again and can only get better
Bottom of order does it again scoring runs playing small ball

Game 5 rematch of game 1, Yesavage vs Snell, jays chased Blake out of game early to get to their BP, chances are good we win tonight and win the WS at home in 6 games, like in '92and '93, Go Jays GO!!!!!!

Now Dodgers manager Dave Roberts knows Ohtani is not superman. Played 6 hours night before, came back pitching, and hitting again. Should have pulled him after 5. Left him in to the benefit of the Jays.

Likely 7. Yamamoto is arguably their best and we didn't do well.

If Yesavage throws a good game tonight the Jays will win the world series
