I noticed that as the inning ended, the ump inspected the pitcher's equipment. I miss the old days when pitchers stashed emery boards and other contraband.

RIP Bobby Cox. Former manger of the Jays. GM OF Atlanta Braves and after 5 years back to manager 3rd in ranking for wins and number one for enjection . Surprised no mention of him . I guess i am the oldest fart that remember him . He left toronto for atlanta for family reasons. He brought so much joy to Atlanta.

Max Scherzer says to John Schneider: You think I'm funny?

Best of three, Cal Raleigh vs El Gran Capitan...wow Mad Max has David Bowie eyes.

That was 35 years ago. There was no data analyst, pitching was different and hitters were more natural like Dale Murphy , Mike Schmitt, Joe Carter, Pete Rose, Hank Arron and so on. Baseball has changed since Gatson time and hitting and pitching has changed as well. Most of current depends on statistics and data gathering. I still hate Jays and baseball these days. For an old fart like me 60 70 and 80 when the game was beautiful
I am no spring chicken either buddy lol. But I'm not exactly an old fart either lol.

When I refer to the "Cito Gaston school of hitting" I'm referring to the plate approach identity that the Blue Jays had from pretty much from 1982 until 1997. It was going up there and looking for a pitch to hit. Not really working the count .. but by being more aggressive. Looking for a pitch to hit. Getting ready to pretty much hack anything.

In 2008 when Cito Gaston made his return to Blue Jays manager, and he replaced the first tenure of fellow San Antonio native John Gibbons… (well Cito Gaston was born in San Antonio and John Gibbons just lives there now) During that press conference, he really made it be known what he has always preached in terms of hitting approach.... and as we know, he was the Jay's hitting instructor from 82 to 89 until he took over managerial duties in 89.

Valid argument about Cito . My point was the tools that alot of players use today was not available then . I think they rely on the tools they have than the natural way of hitting like Paul Molitor or Tony Gwynn or other past players who won the batting titles and hone runs . I am a die hard Atlanta Braves fan . Since this is about Blue Jays RIp Bobby Cox who took the Blue Jay to their first division title in 1985 .

Buck Martinez is such an incredible man of wisdom. He said in the past "analytics and all of this data has never made anyone a better player…" and I love how he's a big advocate for using your eyes to determine what you see and don't go so heavy on the analytics. Last night, John Schneider leaving Max Scherzer to finish the fifth was amazing. Finally, John Schneider is using a little bit of an eye judgment. I hope he keeps doing that.

Another one of my favorite Buck Martinez quotes has been "if the Blue Jays extend Vladimir Guerrero Junior everything else will fall into place." As frustrating as Vlady has been to watch at times, Buck Martinez has never gone away from openly stating facts and being a strong supporter of Vladimir Guerrero's unbelievable talent.

I love Buck Martinez. His baseball knowledge is on another level. Bob Costas, John Smoltz, etc., etc. these guys have a great baseball knowledge… But I put Buck Martinez on another level. This man has done everything baseball related in his life. And what's crazy is he has most recently said "Vladimir Guerrero is only 26 years old and I don't think he's reached his peak yet" which is an unbelievably strong statement coming from him. I honestly believe this postseason success has made Vladimir Guerrero Junior a superstar that we can expect moving forward. I'm finally seeing him have more of a plan at the plate. This is unbelievable what we're seeing here.

The score plays a big part in how the game is managed. If the Jays weren't up by four runs there's no chance that Scherzer comes out for the sixth.

Towards the end of last night game, the Mariner"s pitcher through couple of curve balls looked interesting. Hopefully, the Jays could figure out how to hit those curve balls as well as the fast balls.

The most important thing is to make sure the Jays boys are having fun to playing their ball game. I'm sure they can figure everything out themselves.

Let's go, Blue Jays! Let's just keep the excitement and fun going!
