You should analyze your hate crime statistics a little more closely, K Douglas. Muslims make up a little over half a percent of the US population--yet from your own statistic they were the victims of 13% of religiously motivated hate crimes. A little grade-school math says they are 22 times more likely than the average American to be a victim of a religious hate crime. For the record Jews make up a little over 2% of the US population and were the victims of 65% of the religious hate crimes, making them about 32 times more likely than average to be a victim of a religious hate crime.
Hmmm....0.5% of the population in the US and I bet at least 50% or probably way more of the terrorist plots broken up in that country. Seems like they are about 100 times more likely to be involved in terrorism. Find me just one example of terrorism plots from Hindus, Bhuddists, Shinto in the US or anywhere in the west in the last decade. Which group do you want to come here if you have a choice.

Your error is lumping all Muslims together. It's adherents of a couple of particular sects that commit the violence. Most Muslims do not belong to denominations that commit violence. It's quite plausible that you weren't aware of that, but now you have a choice--you've been given that information, you can update your views to reflect it, or you can choose to be willfully ignorant.

OK and what is contradictory about these two statements? They seem entirely compatible to me.

Is it your view that the hate crimes against Muslims aren't so bad, because Jews are getting it even worse? That's a little twisted.

A better question is why are these two religious minorities being singled out for so much of the hate crime?
My point was why are you singling out violence against Muslims in America when they aren't even close to being the #1 target? I'm not saying that hate crimes against Muslims aren't so bad I'm against hate crimes perpetrated against anyone because of race, religion or orientation.

Sure. It's something like saying, "Christians are more likely than other religious groups to build concentration camps and gas people to death". It is logically true--the Nazis were Christians--but it's a malicious sort of rhetoric, as the statement plainly does not apply very well to the majority of Christians, or in this case, to the majority of Muslims.

Not even close to being the #1 target? They are the #2 target. Unlike you I am capable of expressing my disgust at both anti-semitism and anti-Muslim bigotry. The anti-Muslim bigotry is on the rise, and it is generated by a bunch of hate-mongering fear-propaganda that is promoted in the media and in the popular culture. Statements like post #21 in this thread contribute to it, just as people like Groggy here post statements that contribute to the anti-semitism that is rampant.

Is it OK for me to be disgusted by both? Review my posting history. I don't think I'm going to be accused of going easy on the anti-semites.

Or, Germans are more likely..............................Anyway, I don't think the Germans did it in the name of Allah or God. Thus, using religion to justify their atrocities.

BTW: That Muslim Pakistani woman who had acid thrown in her face and suffered through numerous surgeries has committed suicide.

Hitler was not a Christian. There's no mention of Christ in any of his speeches. Many of his top guns called themselves pagans. You are right I never heard of a nazi yelling "Praise Jesus!" while they were killing. Every day (and I mean EVERY day) Muslims kill Christians, Jews and even Muslims of other members of other
sects in the name of Islam. We have to face it there is something fundamentally wrong with this religion. And I believe it's time we stopped all muslim immigration to Canada. We have to face reality and stop seeing the world through rose cloured political corect glasses.
As a note of irony, the Muslims are descended from Ishmael the son Abraham with Hagar his handmaiden. Hagar was upset that God had promised that Abraham's son with Sarah - Isaac - would be the leader of a great nation through whom all the people's of the world will be blessed. Abraham went to God with Hagar's complaint. God answered in Genesis 16:12, that he would make a great nation from Ishmael as well but, ""And he will be a wild man; his hand raised against every man and every man's hand raised against him."
Now I'm far from a religious person but that's pretty much the way things have worked out. There's no denying that in the world over Muslis are in conflict with every man.

Actually, while Hitler was not a christian, in his early speeches in the thirties there were a number of references to Jesus and God. But after he was in office for a while he was actually putting together plans to entirely outlaw and eliminate Christianity in Germany. Whether he had a change of heart along the way, or was just being flat out dishonest in his earlier speeches is a matter for speculation.

I am headed to a muslim organized fundraiser shortly to help raise money for a local hospital. I guess we won't see you there.

And you don't think that modern day muslims are genetically related to Ishmael do you?

However, perhaps Arabs are, who would have thought that markers on the "Y" chromosome would indicate that Kohen really do have a common male ancestor (presumably Aaron).

What difference does that make. Adherents to any particular religion need not be related genetically. In fact a number of the most militant jihadists are converts.

Actually, it was Christians and a few Russians who destroyed Hitler and the 3rd Reich.

Meanwhile, violence against Muslims continues in Syria.

In actuality it was more like "it was Christians and a few atheist and agnostic Russians who" since most of the Russian front line troops were to a greater or lesser degree R.O. believers.

Meanwhile, Christian violence continues in Congo.
Meanwhile, violence against Muslims continues in Iraq.

Here is a quote from an imman: "Muslims have more rights and freedom in Canada than they do in any Islamic country."
