Actually, with scores like that, the manager is a non-factor.

When he has to make crucial decisions in a tight game (steals, pitching changes, pinch hitters) etc. he can be a difference maker. In these cases, no decisions he makes will have an impact
While thats true there's also the motivational factor.

Gibbons doesnt exactly look like a motivator to me

The starters were supposed to eliminate the issue of the bullpen being overused last year due to the lack of depth of starters when 3 guys went down in 4 days. All 3 acquisitions were guys who were supposed to go deep on a reliable basis.

As I said before, R.A., JJ and Buehrle are doing way worse than what their history would indicate.
It's very hard to understand why they have been so bad. All three of them.

Close games would have been easier to understand but being awful is just weird. Nobody could have predicted this.

It's not that the Jays are losing it's just that they are being beated so easily and convincingly.

Plus, John Gibbons looks lost most games. Like he has no idea what is happening. And some of his decisions (re: relief pitching, game time player positioning, etc) is very questionable.

I actually look at them getting thumped so bad as a good thing. Shows that their pitchers aren't right. Gives me faith that when they get themselfs right, there should be good things to come.

And playing poorly in all facets of the game. Piching, hitting, defense and running the bases. They are doing nothing well.

But when the starters have already put the team behind 4 or 5 runs by the second inning and the hitters aren't getting on, I don't think there's much any manager could do. By the time the relievers come in, it's already too late.

I'm laying this squarely on the players shoulders. Aside from a few they are ALL underperforming and big time. Get Doug Gilmour in there to straighten them out.

First of all, as someone already mentioned, at least no other AL East team has had an incredible start to the season. Jays are only two games out of first. :amen:

On the other hand at some point this has to stop ...
It is OK there are 161 games left.
It is OK there are 160 games left.
It is OK there are 159 games left.
It is OK there are 158 games left.
It is OK there are 157 games left.
It is OK there are 156 games left.
It is OK there are 155 games left.
It is OK there are 154 games left.
... etc

Adages - A team on a losing streak is never quite that bad. A team on a winning streak is never quite that good. You can't judge a team by its performance in April. It takes power hitters additional time to perfect their timing and hone their swing. Cold weather wreaks havoc with pitching.

I tuned into the Sox-O's game for a half-inning a couple of nights ago and the commentator quoted Wakefield as saying that pitching indoors HELPS the knuckle-ball and that Dickey will be just fine, given time to settle in a little more.

In up to date sports news....Carlos Villanueva is shutting out the world champion Giants for the Cubs right now. the Jays had no interest in re-signing him and he was very consistent when he was here. Of course, the new guys looked much better on paper...and hopefully they soon will be on grass and on turf too

Zack Greinke of the LA Dodgers broke his collar bone and is out indefinitely.
A brawl broke out when Greinke hit a SD batter.

The two position players Reyes (.412) and Cabrera (.306) are meeting expectations but the 3 new pitchers Dickey (ERA 8.44), Buehrie (ERA10.24) and Johnson (ERA11.05) are worse than shit. These pitchers are so shitty that a team of Babe Ruths wouldn't be enough to bail them out.

Zomg, last night playing MLB 2k12 I hit an inside the park home run with Bonifacio on a comedy of errors just like that. It was written.

Reyes just broke his ankle sliding into 2nd.

Well it looks bad but the way he's reacting it's gotta be broken - I mean Jose seems to be crying.

Great.

Broken ankle usually means you're out 6 to 10 weeks (depending on where its broken and how many fractures)
