Was thinking of pitchers and I got a tough one who had a very short stint with the team … i remember more Jays from the 80s than the 2010s. To be a kid again.

One correct, (Niekro).

Well out of curiousity I cheated and ran down the list of gold glove winners since 1970 and found the other 6. Won’t say who they are.

But I will leave one clue — there is one obvious name that has been overlooked. The other 5 are more obscure.

@maurice93: Have you ever used the alias "Mr Bosco", or is that someone else?

So, MLB fans, please confirm all this:

MLB Lock out resolutions

~ DH in BOTH leagues now (this is so, so wrong!)

~ 12 teams in playoffs now (previously 6 division winners, 2 wild cars, 2 second wild cards to compete in one game play off. Where are the other two coming from now?)

~ Double headers full 9 innings for both games now (up from previous 7 innings)

~ No more runner on 2nd base in extra innings

Is this all? Am I missing anything?

Division winners with the two best records will get a bye.

Remaining division winner and three wild card teams will battle it out in a best of three series.

The winners of that round will face the teams who had the bye, etc...

Glad to see the one game wild card format gone as all it takes is for a team with a killer ace to end the season for someone. Baseball is not football.

Michial Conforto went downhill badly the last two years but it would make my buddy Al Conforto happy.

He's getting paid exactly $25M for the 2 years.
LOL! Yep, I hit that one out of the park! I wonder what odds I would have gotten on that prop. Oh well! I'm thrilled the Jays settled with all their arb eligible players. Having a happy clubhouse matters a bit, in my opinion. Winning makes the clubhouse even happier! This could be a special season.

Chapman is arbitration eligible for 2022 and 2023. He made $6,490,000 in 2021 and will get a raise. Matt Swartz projects he will get $9,800,000 this season. This guy has been tremendously accurate with his arbitration projects for years. Assuming Chapman reverts to 7 win form in 2022, like most of us fans think he will, then his 2023 salary will be close to 20 million. Conservatively, Chapman is getting paid at least $25 million total for his 2 years with the Jays.
He's getting paid exactly $25M for the 2 years.

In terms of total dollars, Chapman would likely have received more money from an arbitrator over the combined two years, but he would have received significantly less of that amount this year.

Besides avoiding the bad blood often associated with the salary arbitration procedure, Chapman will be a very valuable trade chip in midseason 2023 if the Jays are not in contention at the time; he would yield much less is he was receiving market value arbitration salary that year. A Platinum Glove winner at the hot corner would be a welcome addition to ANY contending team as a two month rental player, with no ongoing financial commitment thereafter.
