Back to your 2 original points.....
It seems a little too conviniant to say that crime and drain on social systems are the fault of immigrants. I think you need stats before you can make claims like that.
Secondly, ever notice how many ESL people are working crap jobs. How about giving all those people credit for working despite the fact that these are jobs that are looked down upon (e.g. cab driver, cashier etc). Certainly these people have chosen to slug it out in low paying jobs to not be a drain on social systems so I have to respect that.
As for the immigration system, you are letting a small number of "bad apples" represent all immigrants. Take the number of shootings in T.O. and compare it to the number of immigrants.
from the website,
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/research/papers/interprovincial/interprovincial-d.html
I found that between 1980 and 1995, 2.6 million immigrants came to Cananda.
Even if there was one shooting per day in T.O. (i.e. 365) and all of these were done by different immigrants its still only 0.01% of immigrants are responsible. So what about the other 99.99% of immigrants?
Technically the % of immigrants responisible for shootings should be even lower because I....
-underestimated the number of immigrants
-overestimated the number of shootings
-assumed that none of the shootings were by the same person
-assumed that all shootings were done by immigrants
Even with this conservative estimate can't you see that your damning a whole area while in reality its only a handful of people causing the problems?
To put the number another way, less than 1 out of 10 000 immigrants to Canada are responsible for the violence.
