I'm only afraid that Elon opened a real Pandora's' Box. The lefties will throw everything, including the kitchen sink and their fetuses, at him in order to destroy him. This is going to be Tucker × 1 000 000. There's nothing that threatens their madness more than open conversations.
Twitter is moderated, like TERB.

If elon was really pro free speech he would have invested in Truth Social.

Why do you back the party that bans books, passes 'don't say gay' and then try to claim you're for free speech?
Its pathetic.
what's pathetic is that you keep repeating the lefty talking points like the "don't say gay" garbage without every going beyond the headlines.

LOL. Pot, kettle, kettle pot. The righties kept on talking about critical race theory, even though they really don't know what they fuck it is. It isn't something that is taught in an elementary school or even undergraduate classes in university. But it makes a great headline....

Truth still has a code of conduct and community guidelines. They actually banned someone before they could even post a message because the username was @DevinNunesCow. Not exactly principled when it comes to being a bastion of free speech....

They said he will have no influence…
I said he would get a board seat. His influence will depend on where he wants to take it. If he starts pushing for things that are against the core principles of the company, he will get pushback. If his ideas can help generate revenue, they will be embraced. Keep one thing in mind, he didn't buy into the company to kill it. He likely didn't buy into the company to change the way it operates. He bought it as an investment, something he hopes will continue to grow.

The science says that if you only watch an hour a day of CNN or CBC or something mainstream that you won't keep thinking these crazy thoughts.
Fox viewers are all just nuts and that's Murdoch's goal.
Don't be a victim.

You can't claim to be pro free speech while you're backing the party that bans books and passes crap like 'don't say gay'.

How is having 9.2% gonna make him the captain of anything?
He will be the largest shareholder but nowhere near a majority.
What is he gonna do, take over as CEO?
Doesn't seem likely.

Good on him for being smart enough to know that "making his own social network" would just have been a complete failure and trying to buy someone else's instead, but I doubt this means much of anything other than him throwing his money around.

He is quite influential though, and now he has a seat at the table. I believe he is capable of making change in that organization.

He'll get a board seat and be able to help make some strategic decisions. But is he going to impose some massive change? No. Why would he? He wants to have it remain a successful company, and if he mucks it up, it'll fall like Meta/Facebook. Plus, the other board members would vote against it. So, yes, he is now semi important in Twitter, but he ain't calling the shots.
Also, a lot of what Musk does is primarily about PR.
"I bought Twitter" gives him a big boost, and "I did it because I believe in Free Speech" as well.
He already has a team of flying monkeys to swarm people who criticize him, so he doesn't need to police content there more.
Maybe he has a real plan to do something with it, but I would be surprised.

I certainly hope that he stands by his principles. He is completely right about the town square concept and the need for combating all forms of censorship. I'm very excited that he is on board and literally putting his money where his mouth is. I might even get myself a Twitter account, now.
You think Twitter is the town square?
"All forms of censorship" is a pretty big statement.
Care to clarify that?

In the past few days I noticed his tweets stopped at March 27th even though he has 17k+. Heads about to roll at the Twitter executive team. I would bet any money they were trying to censor him and show him who’s the captain.
Probably just illegal to post when he was thinking of buying.
He's in enough trouble with the SEC already, why give them an easy target?

I'm willing to bet there will be no major changes, regardless of how much Musk buys. You are not going to see them lower their community standards.
Yes and no.
They barely enforce those community standards already, and there isn't any reason Musk can't push for standards he likes better for "engagement".
Will that be major? No.

If he decides to completely buy it up to do something radical, then sure. But if that's the case we will have to see what he does.
Turning it into Tesla's personal chat bot or something is stupid, but if he buys the whole thing and wants to do it then he can for pocket change.

☝toxic employees shitting their pants because they know they can’t hide anymore and spread their toxicity
Wow.
Anyone who disagrees with Musk is toxic and will be purged?
Nice belief in free speech you have there.

My question is when did the concept of free expression became such danger and exactly to whom?
People like Musk have always been afraid of free speech.
Lots of powerful people don't like their power being challenged or questioned in any way.

The way I understand it is they have their idea of what free speech and expression is as validated through their echo chambers and if this is outside this paradigm they will scream, call names and revolt.
This is a good description of the kinds of fear driving a lot of these anti-free speech people.

As I understand it Musk intends on open sourcing the algos so everyone sees how they function and adopt a more universal approach to enable true free speech and not the left or middle or upside down paradigm to reign supreme. He plans to make it transparent and open. Right now nobody knows how the algos function and how much human influence and ideological influence they have at Twitter HQ.
What do you think this means? "Open source the algorithm".
Will Twitter users be able to implement their own algorithm on their threads?
Will other companies be able to copy Twitter's algorithm?
Will people be able to just get a chronological time line or switch to whatever machine learning weighing they want?

If I thought for a minute Musk was actually going to force Twitter to let you arrange your timeline and promotions the way you want personally, I'd be ecstatic, but that seems unlikely to me.

The only thing you ever know how to do on here is gas light and twist comments and assume shit.

No insight, no value no relevance. Just a sense of entitlement that you know everything.

Jack even supports open source. Do some reason your own what this means, what they want and maybe it will be worth to discuss with you. stop being so lazy and entitled.

You are not worth any further exchange.

Sure. He can make some changes in the corporate culture, but I don't expect big changes in Twitter and how it works.

I think he also bought it as a PR move.
But look, maybe RAIN is right and he wants to radically change how twitter works.
