Looks like Max P indeed is coming in for Robertson.
I thought it was going to be Kampf but if Max P is ready then put him in.
A winger for a winger. Max P is the Leafs best hitter and has more offensive skills than Kampf.
One of Max P or McMann should be playing with John and Willy unless Berube wants to go with a McMann, Domi, Max P line which could work also.
Holmberg is serviceable and a better fit on that line than Domi but he lacks the offensive juice. He has no shot.
Robertson took the exact same type of high sticking penalty in back to back games.
Domi and Robertson together is a defensive liability. Leafs behind and chasing the game then sure but protecting the lead no. Especially without the last line change.

That sounded wrong when I read it. I didn't remember Max as a huge hitter with Montreal.

But he has indeed thrown many more hits this year than the past. Its a really strange increase for a 36 year old. Guess he has embraced his role.

Before this year his career high hits per game appears to be 1.84 per game in 2018. This year it is 2.84 per game. The difference is even more glaring when you look at it from a per/60 minutes, as he plays less than year.

2018 hits = 5.8/60
2025 hits = 12.6 / 60
Career = 4.4/ 60

He is throwing hits this year at a rate that is close to 3 times his career average.

Didn't follow him before he played for the Leafs. All I'm seeing is that he's the best hitter right here right now of any Leafs currently on the team. That includes Reaves because Max P is a better skater and can get to his target. It's not only the number of hits he's throwing but the velocity and ferociousness. He's also a forward to lay hits on the D.

The Leafs have to trap the Turds out of existence so that Joe Bowen can put some olive oil on his vocal chords.

The Oracle, I'm assuming you haven't watched the basketball thread. You don't know the severity of the ATTACK OF THE PUSSY WILLOWS!

That’s an interesting take. OEL was throwing some thundering hits too in the first few games of the season and that was surprising because he’s not one known as a hard hitter.

Maybe as a team they’re trying to shred that image as a “soft team” ? I liked that Nylander was throwing solid hits at the start of game one and that to me is a sign of maturity and good leadership. I don’t expect him or other core players to do that throughout the game because that’d take away their effectiveness, but if they can do that to start this very crucial game 3 to set the tone, that’ll help them a long way. I heard some wise man once said “the toughest team is the one which initiates but doesn’t retaliate “.

Benoit bailed out Stolarz (the second Ottawa goal was soft) and Nylander who took a terrible penalty to put his team two men down.

There were a couple of officiating decisions that baffled me in this game. 1. In the first period, Nylander is skating down the ice and Tkachuk tackles him from behind, which is what Cuthbert rightly described it as. No call? 2. Matthew Kneis takes 3 cross-checks to the back, no call, delivers 1 cross-check, ref’s arm goes up. Huh? Despite this the Leafs win.

Travis Green gets the calls going his way and still loses. You know the refs are looking to even up the calls.

Some interesting tidbits from last nights game:
--Tie Domi and Max Domi become the first Father and Son duo in NHL history to score a playoff game winning goal for the same franchise(Toronto) against the same franchise(Ottawa).
--Marner and Matthews are now number 2 on the list of Maple Leaf duos that have combined for the most playoff points. Sittler and McDonald are first.
--the last time the Leafs had a 2-0 playoff lead was 2002 against the Islanders.
--the last time the Leafs had a 3-0 playoff lead was 2001 against the Senators.

When Brad Treliving was hired as Leafs GM, I had a Sergeant Stedenko reaction. He's managed to do what artsy-fartsy Kyle Dubas couldn't - he fixed the defense. I was shocked when they picked up Brendan Carlo.

The playoffs are a long and grueling road, Leafs must play Lamaire style trap hockey to get more rest. I didn't know Chris Cuthbert was doing the play by play, I'm loyal to The National Treasure.
