Look at all the optimism here!

the reality is that the Eastern conference is pretty dismal and 500 ball puts you in the conference finals.

Do you really know what you're saying? Eastern Conference is now the stronger conference. .500 ball will not even guarantee making the playoffs this year

I thought the East was the stronger conference this year. I mean the Clippers are playing well, you know something is wrong. LOL

Raptors lose again to Washington in overtime. Tough loss. We almost had it. Mopete really had it there. Their back court was just too much for us though. Sam Mitchell looked like he was going to murder someone. LOL

Raptors 111 Washington 119

Weirder things have happened. It's still very early in the season and being 5 games back from first in their division is not that big of a thing to overcome.

Also, a lot of the losses were reasonably close games.

Unlikely but maybe the team will gel?!?!
Maybe there will be a midseason trade?!?!
Maybe there will be injuries on the leading teams?!?!
Maybe there will be a plane crash!?!!?

Awww forget it, I'm locking up my retirement fund, cancelling the flight to Vegas and hoping that the Raps send out their scouts to the NCAA pronto. :)

What's your point, it's not even 20 games into the season

aside from Dallas and San Antonio who can win from the western conference

maybe 5 other teams from the West could win......while Eastern Conference fans think Cleveland is some powerhouse, Memphis is more likely to take it all!!

The Suns seem to be holding their own without their star player.

That's why I ask you to name them

Memphis are good team by they are not going to win (incase you didn't know Mike Fratello is a good regular season coach but his team never wins in the playoffs look at his late 80s Hawks team and early 90s cleveland team)and cleveland is a better team than Memphis they are just getting use to new coach and new players.

I knew we couldn't do it against the Zen Master. Phil Jackson is a great coach, and his system is hard to beat. Raptors lose tonight, but it was expected.

Raptors 91 Lakers 102

It was another winnable game though. Its getting tough to watch. The past couple of games i have waited and on raps tv they have the game in an hour.
Geez i just keep asking myself is cb4 going to stay?

They have zero low post game. Their centre is non existant Araujo is a 3rd string back-up at best and not worth drafting in the 1st round. You can say what you want but the GM should go. He is not getting the job done and if CB takes a hike that's it.
Zero Low Post Game? Do you even watch the Raptors Game?
Do you know the Bosh and Charlie V?

The low post game!!

AT some point ...someone........anyone within the raptor organization ......SOMEBODY..........

will drill it into the player's heads that they are AT BEST, STREAKY SHOOTERS!!.....

AND...

Chris Bosh(and soon enough Charlie V) need the ball inside.........ESPECIALLY IN THE FINAL QUARTER......

OR Jalen Rose, Mike James, Peterson, Calderon etc MUST TAKE IT TO THE BASKET.....

EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!

STOP F@CKING JACKING IT UP EVERY TIME DOWN THE FLOOR!!!

3 POINTERS ARE BEST ATTEMPTED WHEN WE HAVE A 5-10POINT LEAD!!!...NOT EVERY F@CKING TIME.

Chris Bosh is something like 4or5 in the league for Free Throws taken and Made!........he's shooting at a high percentage so even on some of his misses he still gets to go to the line for Free Throws....

YET........

Chris Bosh only takes 15 shots per game.............and Allen Iverson takes 25????

Chris Bosh should be taking 10 more shots a game!!!!!

Guard penetration would help too.........mind you the Raps are getting more this year from James and Calderon.

Kwazy I'll have to agree with you here. The Raptors need to start giving Bosh more looks.

Can you believe the nerve of Phil Jackson yesterday planting the seed in Bosh's head that the Lakers would be interested in getting him once he enters the free agent market. This is against league rules. I was just listening to Babcock on the FAN and he says once he gets proof that Phil Jackson did step over the line and break league rules he will be complaining to the leagues head office.

Bosh please don't go!!!

They can keep Bosh for at least 3 more years... then I believe he can become a free agent without right for the Raptors to match. Until then he is theirs.

Thudarr, what does getting the job done mean to you?

Does it mean winning 15, 20, 30, 40 or more games this season or making the playoffs or winning a championship this year or next year?

My posting is not just to Thudarr but to others I have seen posting in here. I am more frustrated in some of the postings I see than I am by the play of the Raptors at times. This is an exciting team to watch but yes frustrating at times. A lot better team to watch than the past 3 seasons. Love watching the fire in Calderon. I hope this rubs off to Graham and a bit into Charlie V.

I cannot believe how many people have judged Babcock on one fricken pick. Unbelievable! And there are some reports that have said that Aurajo was one of their main choices before Babcock was even there so it was not totally his pick. Let's see. He picked 4 quality players in this year's draft and signed Pape Sow who they sent down to D-League to get lots of playing time. Pape is the second leading scorer, the top rebounder, the top shot blocker, most free throws made and attempted in the D-league. This is certainly not to say he is going to dominate in the NBA but he could be a decent contributor when he comes back to the Raps and matures a bit more. But it is to say Babcock seems to know a thing or two.

How many NBA teams have you seen that have 3 rookies playing significant minutes? Not to mention several other young players. And have a winning record or anywhere near a winning record. The closest may be the Chicago Bulls and they are not yet a championship caliber team. You would be hard pressed to find a team in the history of the league with a winning record with this many rookies and young players.

It is not like they are getting blown out by 20 points every game. They could have 3 or 4 more wins though the record still would not look that great it would be better in line with expectations.

Babcock came in to get the Raptors out of a mess. Giving him one season is not fair. Give him the rest of this season and a couple of more and then judge. Who you going to bring in? If you bring someone else most people will give that GM one or two games before criticizng him. People are so short-sighted.

There are those that say no veteren players want to play in Toronto because the Raps are not winners. Ok. Wow, great observation. Then people criticize Babcock for trading a sulking, negative, injury prone Carter and not getting an all-star back for him who likely after his contract was up would have bolted from Toronto. So what is the only thing you can do? Since they are not winners now the only way to do that is bring in young skilled guys who are hungry and want to learn and get playing time. Gee. That is what Babcock is doing.

I know this may not look like a significant signing but Babcock did good in signing Darrick Martin. Sure he does not play but he is a veteren in this league and played for the Clippers in their bad days. He knows the other players in this league and knows a thing about patience and perseverance when it comes to losing games. Between most breaks in action I see him giving advice to the younger players.

I look forward to them maturing and becoming winners. I don't think there is as much satisfaction buying a championship but earning it through growth and maturity.

To me Babcock is on his way to getting the job done.

I would like to see hoffa sent down to the nbdl for a stint, he needs to build his confidence up a little. Joey Graham i think in time will be a solid contributor he plays good D and most nights he is guarding the other teams better players he needs to polish up his offence a bit but is a very athletic kid who seems to have a good work ethic, he needs to cut down his turnovers and make better decisions when he has the ball. CV is the reverse of Joey, CV needs to tighten up the d a little but i love what i have seen so far from this kid has anyone seen any rebuffs from espn on what they said when CV was drafted? I notice on nba.com they have a great article on the raps rooks. Jose is going to be a great distibutor of the ball, just wait till he starts to understand the nba game a little better. CB4 i dont need to say nothing about this future all star. Bottom line this is a very young and inexperienced team its going to take some time their going to make plenty of mistakes and hopefully as time goes on they will learn from these. This season is going to be tough at times and frustrating i am sure but so long as they give a good effort and play hard i will continue to watch..Vince could learn a thing or two from these kids...

Be patient folks and GO RAPS GO
I still think the Raps Fans are one of the best bunch in the nba...When things are good the acc rocks (very supportive fan base even when they are down) I still think the Raps will win a championship before the LEAFS lol

Rebuttal from ESPN? I was wondering that myself. I looked at their website the other day but did not see anything. Does not help either that to a lot of their more indepth articles you have to pay.

Sending Hoffa down to the D-league is a good idea. He has stints in which he plays decent. Against Miami he held his own against Mourning. On the road he has had some flashes but needs to gain confidence. And could maybe carry that into the ACC. They could bring in Aaron Williams (he could be traded any day now but what would you get back for him) more to take those minutes allocated to Hoffa and send Hoffa down. I would not mind seeing that. Maybe bring Pape Sow back in a month or two after he has got more playing time under his belt although if they do bring him back they have to give him some important playing minutes. No use sitting him on the bench.

I agree. Graham needs time as all their young guys do. Graham can be a solid defender, rebounder and even scorer in the future. Like to see him drive more which could open up outside shots for him. Yes Charlie V needs to work on his defense including his rebounding on that end. He certainly has shown he is a good rebounder on the offensive end. It starts with getting position and boxing out.

Considering their record especially at home they still get decent fan support. They are somewhere in the middle of the league. There are teams with way better records with less support. And because fans are hungry for more home wins the ACC can get loud when the Raps are in a position to win. I was at the Miami game and it was rocking. When the Raps are working hard the fans love them. Unfortunately there have been stints this year where they have not played the full 48 minutes but 45 minutes and that has cost them several wins.
