Since the A's of the late 80's early 90's have been discussed, this WS could end up like 1990. At that time the A's were fearsome, they were heavy favorites to repeat as Champions - instead they got swept by the Cincinnati Reds. The decline of Oakland A's began when Dave Stewart left as a free agent to join the Jays. Dave Stewart has 3 WS rings: 81, 89, 93.

We ain't afraid of no stinkin Dodgers.

If Bo is ready how would you use him? Shortstop, DH or pinch hit ?

Shortstop and move Gimenez to second no question 100%. I know the analysts are saying "he hasn't played in six weeks and now you're just throwing them in there with the best blah blah blah," and some even question his range of motion after injury…but the reality is Bo Bichette is the best hitter we have. We need him to beat the Dodgers… LA is just too good. In addition to that, he's going into a free agency open market and he's missed the last six weeks so I'm sure there is nothing he would like more than to have an awesome World Series to boost his value, so I guarantee he will be playing his ass off. We can take advantage of that.

Depends "how ready" he is. If his lateral movement in the field is compromised (already not his strong suit when having to make a throw to first) then DH, with George in RF, Barger @ 3rd and Ernie @ 2nd. If he is close to 100%, than SS as usual. If severely hampered then PH only.

An exhibition game between the Dodgers and the Yankees - May 7, 1959 at the L.A. Coliseum that drew a crowd of 93,103. 15,000 fans turned away. The game was played as a benefit to raise money for Roy Campanella's medical expenses after a 1958 car accident left him paralyzed. The most famous moment of the night was an emotional tribute where the stadium lights were turned off, and the 93,000-plus fans were asked to light matches in unison, creating a spectacular, sparkling visual as Campanella was wheeled out onto the field by former teammate Pee Wee Reese.

'' Bichette batted .311 -- tied for second in the AL -- with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs and an .840 OPS in 139 games, though he was the worst defensive shortstop in the majors as measured by outs above average and defensive runs saved. ''

Gimenez has played so well too at short...I didn't realize how much of a defensive liability Bo was. I knew he had his problems there but not this bad.

How's Bo's timing going to be coming off such a long layoff..Especially against the best staff in baseball...There's no margin for error here.

Let's wait and see how his workouts go this week. Bats have been fine. We may need the D more. Those three double plays game six show how important it is.

Before the game tomorrow I'm going to rewatch Major League for a nice underdog story. Let's go Blue Jays.

i wondered throughout the year why not Bo at second and Gimenez at short

Gimenez can be a gold glover there, and second is easier

frees up clement to be the best spare multi position player in MLB
which is the most underrated talent of all

why do superstars just play one ? A multi-position star is more valuable

i dont know if that can be done so quickly, as the World Series is no place to learn

This situation addresses players going into freeagency

dont they realize an injury can destroy that big contract when you could have locked one up?

i suspect they're listening to their agents who are greedy a can be

Bo is in a hard place. Dont play and reduce his value in FA or play and risk permanent injury

A solution is to sign right now with the jays

Bo doesn't want to play second base. Also doesn't mean he would be good at that position either. Most of his errors come from mishandling grounders so it's not like his range or lateral movement is the major issue. And remember moving Manny Lee to second base didn't work out to well although he was a great shortstop.

that explains it

i didnt say he woud be better at second just shortstop is a more important position

Bo has the right to refuse it as it is his career

this playing through injuries, as Springer does, seems very foolish as you could ruin yourself
