Pettite versus Hamels to-night in Philly. On the face of it, it would appear Pettite has the advantage. Game time is 7:57PM.

Wonder if A-Rod will get a hit to-night. Took him 14 years to get to the Big Show and hitless (0-8) so far. The great Ted Williams only made one WS appearance and is remembered for batting .200.

This post-season has gotta leave people wondering about the wisdom of building of two new stadiums in New York and not incorporating retractable roofs in their designs. No matter how good a game, I wouldn't sit outside in the wet, cold weather that's been featured this year.

MLB has brought this on themselves. Why the hell do they schedule the World Series this deep into the Fall? They're shooting themselves in the foot and now we have yet another game about to be rained out.

Maybe Cliff Lee can squeeze two more starts.

MLB is mired in the 1940's. Never heard of roofs. Never heard of instant replays. Football, not baseball, is meant to be played in the rain. Also, when they do play in the rain, the quality of play is terrible.

Imagine early season or play-off baseball in Minnesota. Next season there'll be no roof there either.

Baseball's best days are past. Imho the World Series should never last beyond October. At this rate they're going to have a series one year that will barely be done before Thanksgiving.

The umpiring throughout the entire playoffs has been atrocious and to-night is no exception. That CAMERA on the A-Rod home run was hanging at least 6 INCHES over the fence.

Amazingly enough tonight, instant replay overturns an A-Rod double into a 2 run homer.
Are they BLIND! That camera was hanging at least 6-12 inches over the fence. Also, why don't they show the ball hitting the camera? It is a camera, it is suppose to record anything that hits its lens.

They did show it. The ball hitting the lens simply showed up as a quick flash in the upper left quadrant of the shot.

While the hood of the camera was over the fence, the lens itself was not. It appeared to me that it was a good call and I hate the Yankees.

If the Yanks win to-night with CC on the mound, it could be a 5 game World Series. Will the TV crews please get the cameras off fair territory.

According to this article, it had been decided before the game that if a ball hit a camera, it was a home run.

TV camera moved back slightly at World Series

By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer 1 hour, 19 minutes ago

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—
Alex Rodriguez(notes) can even cause cameras to be moved.

A day after A-Rod’s drive to right field hit a TV camera overhanging the fence at Citizens Bank Park, Major League Baseball and the Fox network took a step to make sure it wouldn’t happen again.

“As a precaution, we’ve moved the right-field foul pole camera back slightly so that the edge of the lens is in completely line with the top of the wall,” Fox spokesman Lou D’Ermilio said Sunday before Game 4.

Rodriguez originally was given a double in the fourth inning of Game 3, but after a video review was awarded a two-run homer. It was the first video review by umpires in World Series history.

Umpires said after the game they had decided in advance that balls hitting the camera would be home runs.

“We tour the field during the Series whenever we go to a new ballpark and discuss specific ground rules and potential trouble areas, just like that,” crew chief Gerry Davis said. “Because we cannot control what the cameraman does with the camera, one of the specific ground rules is when the ball hits the camera: home run.”

Baseball began using video review in August 2008, with the umpires consulting replays shown from a control center in New York. The reviews determine only whether possible home runs were fair or foul or cleared fences.

In its first use, a home run by Rodriguez at Tampa Bay was upheld on Sept. 3, 2008. This was the first-use of technology in a postseason game.

“Well, it’s only fitting, right?” Rodriguez said.

His homer Saturday night pulled the Yankees to 3-2, and New York went on to win 8-5 to take a 2-1 Series lead.

Thanks but I am suspicious that the umpires said this AFTER the game. That's like someone saying AFTER the Penguins won the Stanley Cup that he knew they would win before the series even started. There is still the risk that the cameraman could move the camera back on the field again every time the Yanks are at bat.

MLB looks more and more bush league every game. Atrocious umpiring, ball players slipping and sliding in the rain, "home runs" that hit cameras, :(etc.
